((Diplomatic Conference Room 2, Deep Space 14))

The discussion with Loq about giving the Cheyd representatives a tour of the station to help them be more at ease and take their minds off the negotiations for now. It seemed that their chat might have gotten off to a rocky start, so trying to keep everything on track was paramount to these talks if they wanted to make an ally in the gamma quadrant.

Halloway: Of course, we are all friends here.

Loq: In that case, this one will lead the way. ::He made a sweeping gesture towards the door he hoped came across as polite::

Halloway got up with Loq and was about to go around the table when Trinot spoke up, his tone stern and demanding.

Trinot: No ::pausing, trying to remember:: Qurgh'Loq and Halloway… this one will not move until there is progress made in these discussions. ::turning to Illini:: Starfleet has already meddled in the affairs of the Chey’d and left them in a worse state. This one sees no upside.

The red-haired Irish woman glanced over to the Lieutenant, not sure what to do.

Illini: Starfleet can offer these ones a greater understanding of the universe. All knowledge comes with a cost. These ones are here to minimize that cost for the planet, that is all.

Halloway: This one assures you, these ones only wish to be friends and nothing else.

Loq: Response

Clara agreed with the Klingon’s statement. It was clear as to why he was well-suited for the job. She could learn a lot from him and Lieutenant Nilsen. Triont didn’t seem phased by Loq's words.

Trinot: ::shaking his head:: You underestimated how much power this one can yield. Yes, the King’s Path, previously the second largest faction on Chey’d, has been cut down and absorbed,

Illini: Threatening the Federation will not get us our way. Not anymore.

Halloway: Yes, there is no need for hostility.

Loq: Response

Trinot: You want progress? Figure out how the King’s Path gets restored, and these ones might be able to overlook their aversion to outsiders. If not… this one will leave that to your imaginations.

Loq: Response

Halloway: This one is afraid that is beyond our control, we have rules of non-interference in other race's cultures.

Starfleet nowadays tended to treat the Prime Directive as more of a suggestion than a rule. She could think of many times that Picard or Janeway broke or bent the rules slightly in certain situations.

Illini: There are many who seek that restoration, but the past never comes back as it was. There are -other ways-. ::yawning as though bored :: This one can certainly sit in this ugly little room and ask about Starfleet technology from here.

It seemed he was holding some kind of grudge against them and those who brought King's Path down. She didn't know how it went down or what he went through, but it must have been bad if he was like this.

Illini: What kinds of things does Starfleet want? It doesn’t need precious metals. What can these ones give those ones that would even be interesting to those ones?

Trinot/Loq: Response

Halloway: That's okay, I’m sure you have other resources that you can trade with us as well as stuff we can offer you in exchange.

She understood the value of all goods and services. Growing up in a large family-run shipping company had taught her the importance of trading.

Illini: Those are certainly things these ones can supply.

Trinot/Loq: Response

Halloway: You will also experience other cultures within the federation. There is a whole other side of the galaxy for you to see.

Illini: What was it Consul Ber’laghier said when the Antari conquered the King’s Palace?

Whatever Prelate Rolo'illini hoped to stir up with Trinot was undermining their attempt at resolving it peacefully. The tactical officer recognised the tactic in play and was already thinking of a counter to stop her from ruining these talks further. Clara would have to keep an eye on the Prelate, making sure he wasn't up to something.

Trinot/Loq: Respons

Halloway: Prelate, this one understands that you may be tired after such along travel, but this one asks you to keep things civil.

Illini/Trinot/Loq: Response

Halloway: Thank you, Prelate.

She let out a deep sigh hoping that would be the end of their petty fighting.

If she had known diplomacy would be this difficult, she might have reconsidered assisting Lieutenant Nilsen. Still, she wanted to prove she was more than a tactical officer.

Her family raised no quitter; it was not the Halloway way.

Illini/Trinot/Loq: Respons

Clara decided to let the diplomatic officer dictate the next move as Loq was Nilsen's second in command on the mission. She felt she still had a lot to learn if she was considering diplomacy as a future career option. Either that or becoming a helmsman and she wasn’t very good at flying.

Halloway: ::Leaning over to Loq:: What should we do now, sir?

Illini/Trinot/Loq: Respons
