((Private Quarters, Deck 12, USS Astraeus))
Morro was now drunk, and it was only going to be a minute before he got very very sick.
She’d been quietly monitoring his physical symptoms while clocking the concerning language being used. It was nearly impossible to separate her Doctor instincts but also her hypervigilance that was developing with the inability to feel anything from him. Was this a form of anxiety?
Morro had also begun assembling the tank in his drunken state. Something to keep his hands busy as he waited to get sick.
Saa: Morro, it’s natural to feel that way… but if that is the case, you should be able to talk to the Counselor about the rooming situation. Whether it’s sharing a room or having your room put next to someone you are familiar with, they’ll help with placement to help you adapt. ::She tilted her head looking to Tasen then to Morro:: It’s what Tasen and I are doing, so we always have someone close to rely on… also you should be playing music or sounds so you aren’t alone with your thoughts… or get a small pet to socialize with.
Tasen: It’s been amazing to have a roommate. Especially with everything going on.
Caras: See Ms. Saa …. Dr. Saa. That’s why i like you. That’s why I called you. You’re smart and I can trust you with thing like this. I. I….. I hav…… Hold on…. ::standing up:: i’ll be..
If it was possible, the Orion looked even more green than usual. Morro then disappeared off screen to go to the washroom, violent sick noises ensued.
She flinched hearing the sounds, looking back to Tasen, finding it impossible now to hide her sympathy for the drunk and sick Orion.
Gwen felt her own stomach churn at the sounds. She grumbled softly and turned to focus wholy on her roommate, trying to drown out the upchucking sounds.
Saa: …He’ll be back. ::speaking quietly:: …I think it was the tough guy act now, what’s your read?
Tasen: Agreed…he did just say what he did. When someone loses their filter, it always proves where they sit naturally.
Saa: At least he’ll have a legitimate reason to go to Sickbay now. The sanctuary option doesn’t seem so bad for the little parasite.
Gwen nodded softly as she glanced cautiously to the screen again, wondering when the sickly Orion would come back.
Tasen: They would take care of it. I…hope he’s doing alright in there.
Saa: Not being able to feel anything across subspace is awful. ::She scrunched her nose::
Tasen: ::Smiles at her softly and nods towards the screen:: Oh the joys of having to guess at body language and expressions. ::winks as she turns back to Sevan::
Saa: Those and words can still lie… not that he could in this state really. ::she winced:: Morro? Is everything alright?
He was finally done with this wave, he ran the sink, washed his face and came back in. He was still drunk, the alcohol already absorbed and he was still very sick.
Caras: This is miserable, why did I do this again. I’m glad you guys are still here.
Morro didn’t notice that the creature was starting to react. Starting to change color and move. He scratched a little where it was. The sickness, drunkenness, and overall situation was so overwhelming in his mind, he forgot why he had drank in the first place.
Tasen: Oh! ::Jumps and looks towards the screen:: Are you…uh…how’re you feeling?
Caras: Terrible. Why did I do this again?
The creature on Morro was slowly detaching itself from him. It had sensed the illness. Morro was looking progressively worse by the moment, with his green hue deepening.
Saa: Grabs some water and rehydrate. ::her voice revealed her obvious concern::
Tasen: How’s your…uh ::pauses:: oO Saying ‘your parasite’ sounds rude…Oo uh…your friend?
Caras: Oh would you… look at that.
Morro had completely forgotten about the discomfort of the creature on him. At first it was the only thing that was top of mind, but with the issue with Sevantha not understanding his customs and him getting himself sick it had turned into background noise for his brain.
There
was a sigh of relief to learn the method had actually worked followed
by a little laugh that it had worked. Looking to the screen, her
expression softened a little.
Saa: Morro, you’re going to need to go to Sickbay after this.
Caras: You’re probably right. ::sigh:: I just don’t want to be written up for this, but I guess I deserve it.
Gwen was the type to take the grumbles but be honest so seeing the situation that he was in…she would want to provide it to those who could study it but…he was worried. He, like the two of them, was newer to his ship. So she stayed silent.
She winced a little at his fretting before biting her lip, she was about to suggest something that she hadn’t ever thought she would. Despite everything that transpired she appeared to have some soft spot for the overly friendly and apparently incredibly lonely Orion.
Saa: If you go in the middle of a bad reaction to the drink, any symptoms from our guest, will just be attributed to the allergy if you haven’t previously haven’t listed in your medical record, but you shouldn’t try to tough it out.
Morro was surprised at Sevantha’s suggestion. The night that they talked she seemed like she was very by the book. Morro didn’t like to break rules, but owning up to being doing something incredibly “Orion” was hard for him. It was fulfilling the warnings that his sister gave him the day he set out for the academy.
Caras: It… it’s not on my record, last time I just kind of toughed it out for three days.
Tasen: ::goes wide eyed for a moment:: You toughed out all of…oh my.
Saa: …and to handle your other issue, if you are ever feeling too alone in your room, why don’t you send me messages about how you’re doing on in the Gamma Quadrant, and if we’re ever in the same space, we can catch up in person.
For an introvert, she found herself needlessly pestering people regarding their mental well being, maybe it was Tasen’s influence or a result of her compulsion to check on everyone following Frontier Day. It’d become a responsibility almost. She could not make immediate eye-contact with Tasen in this moment.
Caras: You’re really interested in that? I’m not on your ship and that isn’t your duty. According to you, you don’t owe me anything.
Gwen took the chance to glance towards Sevan, studying her friend before she turned her gaze back to the screen and watched the creature. She hoped he wouldn’t use that cream anymore…but she for sure would be studying the scans in her freetime. Plus…bugging the sh!t out of Sevan once they did not have an extra in their room.
By now the creature had fully put itself from Morro. Morro went over to the replicator and made several large containers of water and poured them into the tank that he had just assembled. He only got sick once during this process and ran to the washroom again. While he was in there, the two science officers saw the creature climb into the tank on it’s own. Tasen’s read on the creature was seemingly correct. Morro returned, wiping his face with a washcloth.
Caras: l.. Look at them now. They seem… cozier than when they were on me.
The creature still looked sick but it gave a little splash and submerged itself.
Tasen: Awe…poor thing. At least you are both seemingly doing alright.
Saa: …I meant hydrate yourself but that works too ::she spoke softly before clearing her throat:: Looks like they should survive the journey to New Bajor.
Morro continued to fill the tank.
Caras: I guess… I guess we got it off of me. Thank you.
He really didn’t want the call to end. This was the first friendly conversation he had in his quarters. It felt like a couple of friends coming to visit him. Morro figured he should probably have people over in his quarters more often, and actually replicate the space to me more accommodating to that.
Sevantha
couldn’t help but feel relieved it’d all panned out well, the initial
frustration with him earlier having melted away to simply observe the
tank and subaquatic parasite. Maybe a tank of sea creatures would be
nice for her new quarters.
Saa: And you’re both alive and recovering. ::She offered a smile before looking to Tasen then him:: Next time, I’ll be the one to reach out over subspace, and not about work. And if we’re ever in the same sector we can grab a meal and catch-up.
Morro
wasn’t a bad guy, just different, and both had clearly culturally
unaware about their encounter and what it had meant. They’d be starting a
friendship essentially at ground zero which was fine for her.
Gwen stayed silent and just smiled, glancing between the screen and Sevantha as they spoke.
Caras: Well I will hold you do that. And now that my friend here is cozy, I’ll see if I can get them to that sanctuary. I guess Dr. Saa, Ms. Tasen, I owe you this time. Please let me know if I can ever help you with any kind of engineering of a personal matter. I’m sure the crew on your ship is more than capable, but if you ever find yourself in trouble, I’m available to you.
Saa: …You don’t owe me. ::She insisted before sighing:: Also you can just call me Sevan.
Tasen: Agreed on the don’t owe me either…it’s what people do for each other.
Caras: Have a good night…
As
the call came to an end, the screen went dark, she wiped a head over
her face. Quietly she stared at it for a moment trying to digest all
that had transpired on the call. Some part of her was upset, relieved,
uncertain, but at least she’d been able to provide him some help. Gamma
Quadrant was a long ways away which meant they likely wouldn’t be
sharing space for some time. Who knew how either of them would change
between now and then.
Quietly she realized she also was still not alone. Crossing her legs and burying her face in her hands, sighed.
Saa: …please don’t perceive me right now.
Gwen turned and studied her roommate for a little bit and gave a soft nod, even though she knew Sevan wouldn’t see it.
Tasen: I won’t. You breath, and I’ll go grab food for the both of us.
Give her some space but also come back to just have a good night, food and whatever they ended up talking about. But for now…it wouldn’t be men. That would come another day. For now…Gwen stood and glanced once more back at Sevantha before she turned back around and left their shared room.
