((OOC: Sorry I've been absent for a few days, I had family visiting. I'm just going to skip past the party-planning sims and jump right into the party)

Loq had been more or less railroaded into planning a party, although they were skeptical uptight humans could throw a bacchanal up to either Bolian or Klingon standards. They had certainly replicated enough food, which was a good start. Although so much of it seemed to be cloying sweets humans were so fond of. Loq suddenly regretted not getting more involved with the planning, they could have insured some meat properly roasted over an open flame, even if it was an Earth cow, and some grilled fish, even if it was replicated and not fresh.

Still they were there for the company, and were happy to see Petty Officer Qualunque in good spirits after their ordeal being out of phase.

The doors whisked open, and he saw the storage room full of various computer components, Una, and thankfully Yinn. Beside where they were standing there was a huge variety of food and drinks, moreso than he’d seen at any JOPA party. She’d been putting the replicator to work.

Qualunque: (with a warm smile) Welcome my friends and colleagues!

Kovacs: Hi Una! ::giving a friendly wave::

Loq gave Una a hug with their Bolian body; they had mostly defaulted to letting their Bolian half be their public face. The crew knew Yinn better than Loq before the entanglement, and as in diplomacy, sometimes it's better to lead with a soft voice and have a louder voice waiting in the wings.

Lower Decker(s): Response

Qualunque: Please come in!

Tables were piled high with food, and there was a banner written in Klingon.

Kovacs: ::looking towards Loq:: What’s that say?

Yinn: "It is a good day to party." It rhymes in Klingon. Very clever.

Kovacs: So I guess we better bring out the blood wine ::grinning::

Loq ran their finger across their cheek — the Bolian equivalent to an eyeroll, made with their Klingon body.

Yinn: That's a hurtful stereotype! [beat] I'm kidding, a blood wine would do nicely.

Loq had been trying to sample drinks from around the galaxy, and while their Bolian constitution could dissolve just about anything, nothing pleased their Klingon taste buds like the old and familiar.

Lower Decker(s): Response

Qualunque: What do you think? Yeah, maybe it's a bit little, but you never know. Just in case you're really hungry or not very hungry, who knows. There are plenty of bananas anyway...

Eli’s eyes grew at the statement of it being ‘little’ given how much there was; ‘plenty of bananas’ was also an understatement, mountain might have been a better word.

Qualunque: Well we have:

·         Mini Sandwiches: Assorted fillings like ham and cheese, turkey and avocado, and veggie delight.

·         Pizza Squares: Assorted toppings like pepperoni, margherita, and veggie.

·         Pretzels: Both soft and crunchy varieties.

·         Chips and Dips: A selection of potato chips, tortilla chips with salsa, guacamole, and cheese dip.

·         Fruit Platter: Fresh fruits like grapes, apple slices, berries and bananas, lots of bananas.

·         Cheese and Crackers: Various cheeses paired with an assortment of crackers.

·         Veggie Sticks: Carrot, celery, and cucumber sticks with ranch dip.

·         Popcorn: Classic buttered, cheese-flavored, and caramel popcorn.

·         Cookies: Chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, and sugar cookies.

·         Brownies: Fudgy and delicious.

·         Nuts and Trail Mix: A mix of almonds, cashews, peanuts, and dried fruits

·         Energy Bars: For a quick and tasty boost.

·         Root Beer Floats: Root beer with scoops of vanilla ice cream.

·         Beer, Moscato wine and Root Beer: Chilled and ready to enjoy.

·         Juice Boxes and water : For a non-alcoholic option.

·         Candy: A variety of chocolates and gummy candies.

Kovacs: ::offering a high five:: You’ve outdone yourself; it looks great!

Yinn: You'd think after that transporter mishap you'd be happy not to smell another bana for a while.

Kovacs had a film from one of the human desserts — cold cream, maybe? — across his upper lip. Was it rude to say something? Perhaps it was a human custom.

Lower Decker(s): Response

Kovacs: ::blushing a bit, and wiping it off:: Thanks. So any interesting developments since we last met up?

Yinn: I've been busy around the clock, between studying what happened to me [[indicating their other body]], visiting the Dyson ring, and my new lieutenant duties [[they gently brushed a hand across the new pip on their collar]]. Plus I have even more family members to keep in touch with. This is the first time in a few days I haven't been in two places at once.

Loq had grown so accustomed to having simultaneous conversations, or focusing on two tasks at once, they hardly gave it a second thought. But there was something relaxing about only having to be in one place, even if seeing the same view from two different angles was still distracting.

Lower Decker(s): Response

Eli nodded as they spoke, the fast-paced motion of the ship never seemed to stop. Now, they’d turned the tables back on him. He’d not spent much time on himself as of late, moreso taking care of Nilsen — not that the man needed mothering — just that he’d been through a lot.

Kovacs: I’ve been trying my hand in the arboretum in the ‘hobbyist garden’ but it seems that everything I touch doesn’t want to thrive — if you ever need a plant to die ::jerking his thumb toward himself:: I’m your guy… I’m just hoping it improves over time; I wouldn’t mind having some greenery in my quarters.

Yinn: That's why I specialized in quantum physics and not xenobiology. I can't keep anything alive. I was so bad at taking care of my pet gnillif as a kid, my younger siblings basically kidnapped him to keep him safe from me!

As they talked, Loq sent their Klingon body around the room to see who else had shown up. Whatever the ostensible occasion for a Bolian celebration, everyone's agenda was to find a few romantic partners for the evening, and there was a subtle art to making sure you ended up in the right group. The diplomacy involved now appealed to Loq even more than before they became entangled, and of course the only person on the ship they had gotten together with since they came on board was... themself.

Best not to think about that too hard. And focus on the more vexing problem of whether there was anyone they could seduce that they wouldn't either poison with one body or crush with the other.
