((OOC Note: Apologies on the delay, flight to Munich kicked me in the stomach, almost literally, and then adjusting to the time difference was a pain.))
((8 Forward, The Writer’s Room, U.S.S. Octavia E. Butler))
Kimonzi was glad that she had decided to come down to the Writer’s Room. She hadn’t anticipated having a good conversation with someone, but it was nice to have that. It was also nice to have someone ask about her, instead of just the Symbiont.
Lahl: Oh really? You know, two lives ago I was a famous dancer back on Trill. She was a lot of fun. ::smiling at the memories of Kehda::
Salo: It is a lot of fun.
She kept smiling, thinking about Kehda’s memories. She had been meaning to visit Kehda’s hometown, but she had quickly been shipped back to Starfleet Academy and then here in the Gamma Quadrant about one nanosecond after she’d graduated.
Salo: Does Kimonzi dance?
Lahl: Not like Kehda did. I never had the coordination for that type of dance.
She really appreciated Nesre’s questions. It was nice to have someone ask about the person bonded to the Symbiont rather than just the Symbiont itself. It was way too often that people only cared about the Symbiont, which was understandable, but Kimonzi did appreciate being asked.
Salo: There are many activities to explore, and it’s never too late to pick up something that used to be done…or something new you wish to do .
Lahl: ::pondering for a moment:: You know, that’s actually something I should look into.
Salo: Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to learn a skill that’s not commonly taught now, such as sewing.
Lahl: Yeah, you know, with replicators, not many people learn things like cooking either.
Kimonzi finished off her drink around the same time that Nesre did, and like the lieutenant she didn’t make a move to leave just yet. She was liking this conversation, and she really did need to be making more friends in Starfleet. After her break…and eventually break up with Jennifer, she’d been left on read on any intership communications.
Salo: Have you ever explored any other types of artistic pursuits?
Lahl: I did try my hand at painting, before and after my joining, but I believe people who look at them seem to assume I’m going for some kind of “abstract” art style or something like that. Which isn’t bad, but also wasn’t necessarily what I was going for.
Salo: Response
Lahl: Well, at least they were usually kind about it. Though my brother sometimes took it a bit too far, but sometimes that’s how they are, I guess.
Salo: Response
Lahl: No, he’s not joined. I’m actually the first one in the recorded history of the family to be joined. Some of the family have been vehemently opposed to it for various reasons, but for most of them it was more ambivalence.
She motioned to the bartender, asking for another round of the drink she had just finished.
Lahl: Anyway, besides the painting, I also really like to create and fix holodeck programs. Sometimes the ones off the shelf don’t have exactly what I want. What about you? What kind of artistic pursuits other than dance have you explored?
Salo: Response
