(( Turbo lift, Between Decks, USS Octavia E Butler ))

The lift arrived, and the doors hissed open. They followed Lhandon off the turbo lift.

Nilsen: This is deck six. This deck is kind of the heart of the ship - they have the operations center to port, the diplomatic offices to starboard, where she would find him, one of the many shuttlebays, and even engineering has a little post on this deck.

T’Korva understood what Commander Nilsen had said before, even if his Klingon wasn’t pefect, it had roughly translated to “If we are allowed leisure time, we can greatly enjoy it — but we cannot work at all, and there are no games.” There wasn’t always a direct translation between English and Klingonese, there being words that just don’t exist in their language.

T'Korva: This is deck six, I would think main engineering or the bridge are the heart of the ship. I imagine ::beat, smirking:: that operations and diplomacy are important as well.

She was well aware of their importance—at least, the operations division’s. She had already read the ship’s briefing, personnel roster, and other critical details on her trip to the OEB, and she knew Commander Nilsen’s roots were in Operations. Any chance to reassert herself was… enjoyable.

Dekas: Response

Nilsen: We can start the tour wherever you would like.

The commander’s PADD began beeping. oO Those confounded devices, controlling us as if our freewill is dictated by schedules. Oo She missed the days of orders being given verbally over comms or in person. But whatever it was that the PADD was displaying, it instantly changed the Commander’s entire demeanor.

There was a softer side of T’Korva, one that she would even allow to be shown to her closest of friends — but if you were very observant, you’d pick up on the finer changes in her own demeanor when she was angry, sad, or joyful. Her own general disposition and awareness made it easier for her to see when someone else’s changed, even those she’d just met.

T’Korva: ::in a softer, still Klingon, tone:: Are you alright Commander?

Dekas: Response

The commander seemed to snap back in an attempt to find composure, even if there was something still bothering him.

Nilsen: I'm sorry, would you excuse me? Duty calls. T'Korva, I leave you in Dekas's capable hands.

She couldn’t say she wasn’t relieved, another correction, like before, from the Commander and she might have considered the value of killing him for challenging her versus remaining in Starfleet — over the year’s she’d found a way to silence the former and focus on the latter. But it also helped to know that he had something going on, it humanized him more — made it harder to justify killing him for dishonorin…

Nilsen: Oh, and T'Korva, remember what I said earlier - don't ruffle any feathers.

oO Ok, maybe later, not now T’Korva, but maybe one day… maybe not… Oo She’d tried very hard over the years to squelch those thoughts, but she was naturally Klingon and they did come easily to mind, even when the intention wasn’t there.

T'Korva: The Aurelian will be a fine tour guide. oO Even if he’s only been aboard a short time. Oo ::turning towards Dekas, finished with Nilsen:: Commander, I should report to the captain, but being on shore leave I was informed that she’d departed. Do you drink?

Sure it was early still, but the shuttle ride had gone far past DS14 when they’d arrived as they’d been heading for the OEB’s previous location on mission, but then were redirected back to DS14 which added about six additional hours in the small shuttle — with a very talkative Lurian pilot who failed to read the room, or rather cockpit. Her energy was drained and she could really use a cold belt.

Dekas: Response

The Aurelian seemed amused by Commander Nilsen’s punny nature, at least she assumed it was amusement, she’d not spent a lot of time around Aurelians and wasn’t sure what their type of humor was.

T’Korva: That sounds acceptable. ::beginning to walk then pausing and turning to Dekas:: as long as you guarantee no counseling Counselor? ::a smile crested::

T’Korva appreciated good humor and had her own type that wasn’t always appreciated by everyone, but a select few seemed to emulate. It would take time, aboard the OEB, to discover those select few. But she never made friends, but did try and make contacts, they were helpful in her larger mission, especially when she didn’t spend long on any one ship.

Dekas: Response

(( ooc: Dekas, feel free to keep this going, take us anywhere, even a mess for food, or somewhere for drinks, I’d love to continue the scene. If you want to end it, that’s fine as well.))
