((Shuttlebay, Deck 9 - > Science lab, Deck 10, USS OEB))

Yinn and Loq’s situation was puzzling, certainly, fascinating, most definitely, but thus far, it had not improved.  Both were still melded together, so to speak, two minds, two bodies, but connected in such a way they could n’t accurately distinguish one for the other.  When Loq’s body spoke, it could be either of them truly speaking, and whether it was Yinn or the true owner of the body could only be discerned if one observed their unique speech patterns.  Even so, the situation was not desirable, and Fer’at, along with Brzezinski, had assisted them to a shuttle.  Now that the shuttle had arrived on the Octavia E. Butler, they had to get the two to the science lab.  Considering the difficulty the duo had in walking earlier, Fer’at suggested they use gurneys, but all three protested.  The Vulcan pointed out the illogical part of their choice.

Fer’at: Yes, but we did not have to walk far.  I am strong enough to assist without concern, but would you be able to do so, Brzezinski?

Brzezinski: I can handle one petite Bolian for the walk to the labs.

Loq: And the lab isn't far. We really just have to walk a few meters to the turbolift.

There was no point in fighting, for that would only aggravate the issue and it was certainly an illogical course of action, so Fer’at merely acquiesced.

Fer’at: As you wish.

Thanks to his natural Vulcan strength, he, himself, had no problem assisting the Klingon, though he did notice Loq required less assistance that before.

Brzezinski: Nothing doing, just down this corridor and to the turbolift!

Yinn: We should alert Commander Katsim, if she isn't already in the lab.

The two women flittered their words back and forth, leaving little opportunity for either Loq or himself into the conversation, but the Vulcan elected to simply let it lie, as he had nothing to add at the moment.

Brzezinski: Should we call someone from medical as well?

Yinn: Agreed. Notify Dr. Toz, she can decide who's best suited to help.

Fer'at: If we involve too many people, we will simply be calling them all day rather than make progress on the problem.

Brzezinski: If time is of the essence, I suggest we begin with a full-spectrum molecular scan.

Yinn: We can try, but if my quantum entanglement theory is right, whatever's happening is happening on the subatomic level. Thankfully, I've already been working on...

Even as they conversed, the group had shuffled their way down the hall and into the lift.  A few seconds later, they emerged and traversed down yet another hall before they arrived at one of the science labs.  Into this they dove, and there was an undercurrent of energy that radiated from both of the affected victims, perhaps the knowledge that they were in a realm where study and discovery would hopefully lead to a solution awaited.

Yinn: Here it is! ::a transparent aluminum cylinder rose up from the countertop:: My tachyons! They're entangled with other tachyons somewhere else, and my theory is that their counterparts are still orbiting the moon of Alpha Brenkevi, and that the incorporeal aliens we met there had these entangled particles as their neural network. So if we can observe the neurons in my brains, we should be able to see the same— ::she stiffened up for a moment:: I'm getting ahead of myself. We should probably wait for Commander Peri's thoughts.

Fer'at: Perhaps.  In the meantime, we should have access to information that will allow us to get a baseline.

Brzezinski: Right. And we can cross-check with the previous scans of both subjects.

Fer’at inclined his head as Brzezinski accurately assessed his own thoughts on the matter.

Yinn: Scans. That reminds me, what about our previous idea...

Loq: Of sending this body to sickbay for a full diagnostic. I'm also curious as to how the entanglement will work if I'm separated by several decks. If this isn't quantum entanglement, perhaps it's restricted by distance, like Betazed telepathy.

Fer’at: Keep in mind that while there is a restriction, the distance of a full blooded Betazoid’s telepathic range is far more than a few decks on a ship. Still, it is worth an experiment to see.

Brzezinski: responses

Loq: An excellent point. Although...

The two bodies turned as both minds sought to look at each other.

Loq: It would be a shame to break the connection before we've had a chance to fully study it. ::beat:: Not that I want to spend too much time being the experiment and not the scientist.

Fer’at: Then we should proceed in order to come to a solution as quickly as possible.

Fer’at knew if he were in their situation, he would wish to be of his own mind as quickly as possible.  Such a position was untenable at best, and a separation certainly ideal.

Brzezinski/Yinn: Response

Fer’at: I will contact Commander Katsim.  Perhaps it is best if you both first bring up older scans for a comparison.  Even if you believe this is on a subatomic level, the molecular scan could provide valuable information, and in this matter, it is best to consider every possibility.

He suspected Yinn’s theory was correct, but he also knew they shouldn’t cut corners or bypass options when they weren’t completely certain.  The more information with which they were armed, the quicker they could find an answer.

Brzezinski/Yinn: Response

Nodding, Fer’at stepped to the side to contact the Commander.  Connected immediately, he passed along the information, but unfortunately she was not even on the ship.  When asked if she should return, Fer’at suggested she remain where she was and they would apprise her of their progress.  A couple of minutes later, he stepped back into the conversation.

Fer’at: Commander Katsim is currently indisposed, but has impressed upon me that we should use any and all resources to search for a solution.  She offered to return, but I suggested she allow us to explore options first and allow her to finish the task she is currently on.

Brzezinski/Yinn: Response
