((OOC: This is the first time I’ve ever simmmed from a coffee shop…I feel like I’m at uni again))
(( Diplomatic Conference Room 1, Deep Space 14 ))
Lhandon had become very good at one thing, taking that little bit of doubt and putting it into a nice little box where it could be stored away; but today, he felt every ounce of doubt go past his consciousness on a conveyor belt as part of a budget game show.
He remembered the pronouns "This One" and "that one" and the letter to Captain Del Veldova had helped a lot. He was just glad that the Chey'd were not the telepathic members of their planet.
Nilsen: I trust that one is feeling a little more refreshed, Lower Tenente.
Dolce: Yes, this one definitely is. Will this one’s companions be safe with the ridge headed one?
Nilsen: I (beat) This one trusts Loq, we have known each other for a while, I'm sure those ones will be okay. There was something this one was curious about. It was suggested that a lot has changed since our visit. Could that one tell me more?
It had certainly been a big upheaval. The Butler's presence had had a bigger impact on the Chey'd's lives than he had thought. That mission was the one that had confirmed to Lhandon that he wanted to explore diplomacy, and now in a full-circle moment, the diplomatic consequences of that were laid out before him.
Dolce: Cheyalanga has had…a lot of upheaval. Additionally, this one is taking classes, slowly, to design ships like this one flew in to get here, and like those ones used.
Lohkina: (exchanging a glance with Nilsen) These ones see.
Dolce: This one is glad.
Nilsen: This one hopes that those classes go well for that one.
Lhandon smiled as he heard that. That meant that the caste system had less of a grip on the Chey'd, which made them a lot more compatible with Starfleet
Lohkina: If this one may make a recommendation: Tell us about that one's experiences, Lower Tenente. These ones understand best by understanding the experiences of others.
Lhandon nodded. He didn’t interject, he just let the Chey’d speak.
He had another doubt as he asked his next question: had he made the right choice in splitting the party? It wasn't that he didn't trust Loq - far from it, he never had to worry when Loq was on the case - but rather, how would the other members of the Chey'd delegation perceive this move?
Dolce: Like this one said, there was a lot of upheaval. There are those that wish for more strict castes, but it has been somewhat good.
Nilsen: This one is glad to hear that your people are getting back on ::correcting himself:: those ones feet and that things are somewhat good, If this one can be so bold, how are the Mognar doing?
Dolce: That one has a good handle on what has happened. It has not been easy for these ones.
'Not been easy for the others,' Lhandon read between the lines. It would make an interesting part of his report back to the corp. Those ones were not united.
Lohkina: Response
Nilsen: And how are the former members of the King's Path dealing with that? Has it been peaceful?
Lhandon needed to know the answer. He hoped, with every fibre of his being, for the best. The ideology of the King's Path was less than ideal. While a people electing not to take part in the wider galactic community was perfectly acceptable, subjugating their own kind and those they shared a planet with was not, under any circumstance. He still felt those sharp binds around his wrists, and even if the physical wounds had healed, mentally, his wrists still were tight and the binds still dug into his skin.
Dolce: This one almost didn't make it to this meeting with those ones.
The answer was not encouraging.
Lohkina: Response
Nilsen: Lower Tenente, forgive this one; that sounds like, erm…
He looked to Lohkina for a little bit of help with the word. What did he want to say? Someone almost not making it somewhere? The euphemism alone was enough to make the most stoic of eyebrows raise.
Lohkina/Dolce: Response
Nilsen: Is there anything these ones can do to help those ones? To help all the Cheydalanga?
Lohkina/Dolce: Response
Nilsen: And please forgive all the questions — what has the United Dominion of Planets' relationship been like with those ones' people?
Lohkina/Dolce: Response
Lhandon almost tensed as he awaited the next answer. He'd heard rumours and speculation that the UDP were "up to something" but overall, at least for the Kissoben Reach, they had been quiet; although as Ywoal said, it was almost too quiet.
…Or at least, that’s what Lhandon had heard.
