(( Staff Only Area, Deep Space 14 ))
Link and Teddy had chased the now-identified aliens into the staff-only area of DS14, a part designed to be the back rooms and corridors that connect the various businesses to the stockrooms and offices that are typically kept out of public view.
The aliens were identified as Chey'd, and were named Ch'udut and To'fordu who, even after having their butts kicked, still found the space to mock Teddy and Link. Teddy had questions while Link played the role of lie detector using his Betazoid abilities.
O’Reilly: What interest do you have in the girl?
Ch’udut: I’m not going to tell you inferior pieces of… ::interupted by sharp jab::
Teddy was starting to get annoyed and Link could see the red emanating from the big guy. This was demonstrated by a heel going into the side of the Chey'd, cutting him off.
Jenson: He’s hiding something, we ain’t got long either
To’fordu: That one is bright, That one is too late. There are more ones involved.
O’Reilly: Too late for what ::looking over to the other alien lying on the floor::
Ch’udut: While you two were playing hero, the girl’s long gone.
Teddy had really been building his temper, but Link would never have lied to him, even if Link had known the next thing he said would set him off.
Jenson: Should we go after her?
Teddy looked over to his fellow marine with an inquisitive expression, as Link still saw deceit and deception, as the Chey'd's aura had not changed colours,
Jenson: Because he's still lying
O’Reilly: What makes you Chey’d so thick headed?!
And there it was, as the Chey’d was lifted by his shirt and slammed into the bulkhead.
Ch’udut: Ooomphf (beat) You can’t intimidate us.
Link flinched, and was faced with a choice. The two of them had very different outlooks and very different temperaments. Teddy found in his pocket a set of brass knuckles and planted them into the side of the Chey'd who seemed to be enjoying this and mocking Teddy.
Ch’udut: Ooomphf (beat) ::starts laughing menacingly::
Link put his hand on Teddy’s shoulder,
Jenson: He ain’t worth it.
O’Reilly: ::dropping the alien, looking towards Link:: We need to find where she went, they’re not going to be any help.
Jenson: It looks like there’s only way to go.
He gesutred to the corridor which seemed to stretch down for lightyears.
O’Reilly: We can’t leave them here, they’ll let anyone they’re working with know.
Jenson: What if they really promise not to?
O’Reilly: Search em for a comms device.
Link did so, and soon he found a flip communications device, somewhat reminiscent of old-style communicators used by Kirk and Co., on To'fordu.
Jenson: Got this.
Meanwhile, Teddy had found some shipping straps and had successfully bound the two assailants, neutralizing the threat they posed. Link passed the comms device over to Teddy.
O’Reilly: Response
Jenson: Let's leave them, we’re wasting time.
He resorted to tapping Teddy firmly on the shoulder to snap him out of his trance.
O’Reilly: Response
Jenson: : whispers loudly: Private, come on.
Link's voice took on a more urgent tone as he tried to snap Teddy out of his fixation on the Chey'd. They needed to move quickly if they had any hope of catching up to the missing girl.
O’Reilly: Response
Jenson: Now…come on.
He felt the tension drop from Teddy, like Link had found the off switch for Teddy’s more aggressive side.
O’Reilly: Response
