Serala: And you think the Illa’variea was responsible?

Kiliak: No, it wasn't that at all. Imagine my surprise to discover the recalibration bypass sync error was left over by simple operator error, committed by everyone's favorite Lieutenant Commander aboard DS26 when his team recalibrated our transporters during our last shore leave repair period.

oO Perkins! Easy, don’t reveal your emotions. So, his name comes up again. Oo

Serala: And you are sure it was accidental and not incompetence?

Kiliak: I have no reason to suspect it was malicious. All signs point to it being just another stupid mistake by Perkins or someone on his team. Still, now that you mention it, incompetence could make for a terrific cover to get away with murder.

Serala: You were reading my mind, Lieutenant.

Kiliak: Wait, you really think... ? :: Kiliak trailed off as the implications began to sink in, then resumed where she left off. ::  Should we say something to Dermont? Prophets know he'd likely strangle Perkins on the spot... But what about the fact that this team is working on the Atlantis over the next week?

Serala: That’ll be all for now, Kiliak. You may share your theory with Lieutenant Knight, but no one else. Right now, I am not sure who I can trust and who I can’t. I am placing my trust in you and Knight. Don’t disappoint me and don’t share your theories.

Kiliak: I'll handle this matter carefully ma'am, on my honor. Good night, Lieutenant Commander.

oO Jolan’tru, Lieutenant. So, it comes back to Perkins. Again. Oo

:: She watched as the Lieutenant left her office, hoping the young woman would not disappoint her as she had promised. Right now, she wasn’t sure anymore who she could trust on this ship. Even Captain Brell was suspect in light of his recent captivity. ::

oO And now we have the rebirth of the N’Ventnar to deal with. This is getting very deep. Dad was the spy, not me. I don’t know how to sort this all out. Can I trust our own Intel department? Danara? She was an Imperial Officer just like mother. How far can I trust her? How far can I trust Mother, for that matter? She is still Romulan. And her loyalties have never truly lied with the Federation. What is her real agenda here? Could she have n’Ventnar among her crew and not even know it? How would she if she has no reason to suspect they even exist? Fvadt, Kiliak. Why did you have to bring this to me now?! Oo

:: Punching a button on her desk console, she opened a channel off the ship. ::

Serala: =/\= This is Lieutenant Commander Serala of the Federation Starship Atlantis, to the Romulan Warbird Illa’variea, Commander R’Val. Please respond, encrypted frequency one-niner-six-theta-theta. =/\=

R’Val: =/\= This is Commander R’Val. What is it you wish, daughter? =/\=

Serala: =/\= I have a fresh batch of aesohll leaves and wondered if I could come over and share a cup with my mother? =/\=

:: Serala had established that as a code some time back to let her mother know that she had something more to talk about than simple family affairs. ::

R’Val: =/\= Granted. I should have some free time in about 15 minutes. That should give you plenty of time to cross the station and come aboard. =/\=

Serala: =/\= Very well. I will see you shortly. Serala out. =/\=
