Stevok had just finished getting the analyses of the various blood samples. They would take some time to complete, but he felt confident he had a good sampling to develop a baseline as well as isolate the source of the infection. He just needed to get a doctor down here. Lieutenant Commander Raga had just departed in the shuttle to retrieve Doctor G’Renn. Kiax was now resting in a cot. He was disturbed by how quickly she had developed symptoms and how far they had already progressed. That last sample in the processor was hers. He took the vials containing the samples from the skeletons and began to add a solution. He needed to break it down into a liquid form to better analyze it. Hearing what he thought was footsteps behind him, he turned around. Seeing no one he turned back around to the samples.

He had finished dissolving the last sample in the solution and had begun the analysis when a sudden rush of footsteps behind him caused him to turn around. Unfortunately, he never got a chance to finish turning. He had a vague idea of something piercing his biosuit and puncturing all the way to his spine. It happened again. Several times. He fell to the ground, his face staring at the dirt and the tent wall as a pool of green blood began to gather around him.

oO Serala…..my wife….always remember….that….I love….you Oo

His last thought before the darkness of oblivion overtook him was regret that he would never be able to see his child.
