((Alpha Quadrant, Earth, England, Oxfordshire, Brize Norton, Parachute training Centre))

((Time Index: Day 27 of Shore Leave))

Somehow, Toryn had managed to talk her into a real test of her wingsuit. He’d trained her thoroughly in the holodeck first, of course. She was still feeling slightly uncomfortable about Toryn’s closeness with Rosek. Even though she believed Toryn that the scene had been perfectly innocent, it still had hit on her insecurities.

She’d struggled with her self-image and her self-esteem since she was old enough to notice that she wasn’t like other Al-Leyans. Her career had always been her main source of validation. She was very good at what she did. She put so much stock in her career that it worried her what she’d do if she ever wasn’t able to be a doctor--if she ever had to choose something else.

It was part of what had driven her to step outside her comfort zone at the conference. She’d needed to prove that she was more than just the person who fixed patients up after the fact. She could also prevent people from being hurt as well. If there was even a minute chance that she could become skilled enough at it, she needed to try.

She knew what her family back home would think. Her choice would mean stepping far outside of Al-Leyan tradition. Good Al-Leyans never sought career satisfaction outside of their assigned branch. Clearly she wasn’t a good Al-Leyan.

She’d been so lost in her own thoughts that she hadn’t noticed her surroundings.

Logan: Commander, Commander. Salutations to you both upon this sunny but lightly clouded day.

At first, she hadn’t been sure he’d been talking to her. A slight flush filled her cheeks at the thought. Her a Commander? Hardly. She was a good doctor, but still had a long way to go before she had the needed skills to lead as Commanders were expected to.

Raga: Kurt. What on Earth are you doing here?

The phrase sounded more than a little strange coming from Toryn. She glanced in his direction, wondering where he’d picked it up from. Likely during his Academy years, though she imagined she’d indulged in a bit more of the local culture than he had. If he only knew about some of her wilder days with roommates.

Journs: ::inclines her head:: Captain Logan.

She still wasn’t any too pleased with his stubborn reluctance to take care of himself. By this point, she mostly tolerated him outside of duty for Toryn’s sake. The two were at the very least friendly and she knew that it would only hurt Toryn for her to be rude.

Journs: oO The things I do for this man. Oo

Logan: Are you joining us ? ::Indicating the assembled recruits and shuttle::

Raga: ::He nodded, glancing at the shuttle:: So it would seem. I wanted to get some actual hours in a real setting for Ishka in her new wingsuit. ::He looked to Kurt:: And it’s nice to be able to fly in a real environment. Not a simulated one.

She shifted subtly from one foot to the other, her hands tucked behind her back as she worked actively to conceal her nervousness. The holodeck had been one thing. It had safeties and the worst that would happen would be a minor injury.

A real mountain--well, true she’d ascended one without gear. But that had been once. Her main concern was that, in a panic, she’d forget the training Toryn had given her on the suit.

Logan: response

Raga: I wasn’t aware you knew how to paradrop.  Since it hasn’t really been such a practice since before your third world war.

Logan: response

Journs: response

Raga: Well, it looks like their boarding the shuttle. Shall we? ::He looked to Ishka with a smile and then to Logan::

She simply smiled and nodded, not trusting herself to speak. Despite her nervousness and the unexpected company, she was determing to enjoy today with Toryn. Both of them worked so hard. They tried to plan intimate time, but they so rarely got opportunities to enjoy it off of the ship like this. There was something so much more exciting about being planetside with fresh air.

Logan: response

((OOC: I wasn’t sure if you both wanted to continue this. If so, feel free.))
