((Main Engineering - Main Level, Deck 11, USS Atlantis, Par'tha Expanse))
oO This has to end. NOW!! Oo
:: Just then, one of the bots cut the cable to the force field and they came down with a hum. Suddenly, a wave of bots swarmed in..::
oO Swii hlladen Toryn valdihg! Oo
(( This is for Toryn ))
:: She turned her phaser on them and began obliterating them. ::
:: About that time, several people burst in, adding their phaser fire to those already Engineering. ::
McKnight: Friendlies coming in! ::He shouted as he came in shooting, gesturing to Knight to follow.:: Ensign, work your magic!
:: Even in her fury, she had enough presence of mind to pull her fire before hitting her fellow shipmates. ::
Knight: Lt. Dermont!!! I need all the power you can give me!!
:: With that Knight sprinted towards the nearest console, a spider bot was busy attempting to download data and didn’t notice him. Firing his phaser mere feet away from it, the bot fell away from the station, The console was damaged but still operational. ::
Dermont: Huh? Wha...?
McKnight: Lay down suppressing fire! ::Then he noticed how the spiders were moving and had to rethink his train of thought: Screw that. Focus on where they are coming from! Plug the holes they are coming out of!
Knight: No time to explain just give me all the power you can muster
McKnight: Watch your fire! Don't hit the Core! ::It was hard having a fire fight anywhere, let alone mere meters from the giant glowing tube filled with anti-matter.::
Dermont: ..uhh...emergency power is still up...you can tap into the generator with a cable...::he pointed at the field generator, but actually made no move to assist.::
Knight: I don’t know…..the lights, life-support, your phaser pack. ANYTHING….
McKnight: Ensign, I need that jamming right now or we'll get overwhelmed!
Knight: I’m working on it Sir
:: Working on the Engineering console, Knight noticed a burning sensation in his lungs. Then his eyes started to burn, everything started to spin and he found himself lying on the deck. Still conscious of everything happening but unable to do anything about it. ::
o0 Gas!!! 0o
:: In his haste to set up the signal, Knight hadn't noticed the gas and ran straight into it. It wasn't enough to knock him out and had dissipated some, but was enough to put him on the ground. ::
Logan: Permission to be reckless Sir
Brell: ::Gasping in a breath large enough to say what he needed too without coughing.:: Whatever it takes to save this ship Marine.
:: With that Logan raced toward the core, typed something on a PADD and fired his phaser into the warp core. ::
Logan: Killing me won't help it's already in motion, You have six seconds to answer. 1....2....3....4....5....6....
:: A second beam lanced from his side arm to the core eliciting a deep crackle in reply::
Williams:=/\= Atlantis… if you can hear this… HOLD ON TO SOMETHING!!! =/\=
oO Another ramming ship? Oo
:: Then the ship shook, but there were no explosions, no fatalities. ::
Serala: Did they just take out the main ship?
Williams: =/\= Williams to Atlantis… the carrier is down, repeat troops carrier is down… How are you doing over there? I need an emergency transport for Mr. Raga. We need to get him to sickbay. =/\=
Brell: =/\= Excellent work Commander. ::Coughing for a moment.:: We don’t have that capability yet. You will have to get him to the medical suite on the Aeroshuttle or use your transporters to relocate him, we only have power in a few localized spots here. =/\=
Logan: Your carrier is gone, containment is damaged and despite all the time you can devote to our computers the damage ::nodding to the core:: can only be sorted manually. Now you have six seconds to respond, and one thing you don't know about me is I never bluff ....
Dermont: Yer shootin' the core?!
::Sparks again flew from the core as Kurt's third shot struck::
Logan: Now I'm getting tired of you, and I reckon your main ship is within our explosion range so you now have five seconds to reply
Dermont: Yer shootin' the damnable bloody core!?
Jann: looks like you've been busy down here too.
Serala: Very. :: Looking at Jann, speaking quietly :: You seem to be very enterprising, Ensign. How's your engineering skills? I'd I can get power back in the Torpedo Bay, I can manually fire them and take out the lead ship. Kill the queen, scatter the hive.
Brell: Leave this ship now or, fight us until you are all destroyed. Those are your only choices.
Logan: I'm no engineer but I'd reckon five six minutes before we lose the containment but for all I know it could be one minute :: His sidearm not wavering from it's aim at the Core
Dermont: Oh aye, five minutes 'til we all go boom. Because yer Shooooootin'. The. Damn. Core.
Jann: ::quietly to Serala:: I seem to be having a lot of luck today, why not see if it's on my side?
::He glanced over to a lit console on the far side of the wall and gave her a nod.::
Jann: I'll see what I can do. You let the Captain know. Hell will break out once we do this.
:: Moving over to the Captain, Serala spoke quietly in his ear ::
Serala: Sir, if I can get power back in the Torpedo Bay, I may be able to manually fire at the main ship. I believe if we take out the main ship, we will kill the queen spiderbot and cause chaos and confusion amongst the rest. Request permission to take a small team and try to get the torpedoes up. Although, you should know that once I start shooting, they'll shoot back and we don't have shields. I'm only hoping everyone has congregated in a few spots so casualties will be few. What do you think, Captain?
Brell: ::hoarsely whispering back to her.:: Get Knight and Jann ready to go with you and wait for my signal.
Serala: Aye, sir.
:: Just then, Jann approached them. ::
Jann: ::quietly.:: I've rerouted power from sickbay to make two shots. Don't worry they'll only be dark for about 5 to 10 seconds as long as takes to fire both torpedoes. It's your call sir. But to fire anymore may take more power than I bodge together.
Brell: ::hoarsely whispering back to her.:: Get Knight ready to go with you two, and wait for my signal.
Serala: Aye, sir.
:: Before either could act, a humanoid-looking robot stepped forward through the gas. It was tall, covered in armor, embedded weaponry, and looked like it too had biomechanical components. ::
Boarding_Beta: Eight minutes, thirty two seconds to be precise. You organics are illogical beings. You seem to cherish your existence yet are willing to end it so frivolously. No matter. Our mission is nearly complete. There was a ninety-seven point zero zero one six percent chance you would focus your defenses in key locations on your vessel. Giving me free reign to move as I needed to to accomplish my mission.
Boarding_Beta: Your attempt to sway us is irrelevant. We are machines. Should these chassis be destroyed our programming will merely be installed in a new one upon our destruction. You sign your own...what was it? Death warrants... We do not require your deaths.
Knight: :: barely audible Knight managed a few sounds but no coherent words. ::
Boarding_Beta: You now have six minutes...fifty seconds.
::The bots suddenly began skittering up onto the humanoid one, locking into place around the command unit. This time that large disruptor on his right arm discharged and when it hit the core several consoles closest to it exploded showering everyone around with with hot pieces of debris. There would soon be little of the ship left enough to save it at this rate.::
Boarding_Beta: Three minutes left...there is a forty seven percent chance you'll save your ship before you all expire. Executing exfiltration plan Delta, Command. Mission can no longer continue. Data collection complete.
::Small explosions echoed from what felt like all directions, and most of the spiderbots in engineering initiated self-destruct. The humanoid robot and the spiderbots that had attached themselves to it did not explode, beaming away instead. ::
oO They will not get away with this! I am Romulan! No one boards my ship on my watch and gets away with it! Oo
:: She wanted to beam the Torpedo Bay immediately, but the Captain hadn't given his signal yet. ::
Brell: ::Shouting:: Lieutenant Dermont, and any Engineers let's get this core stable or ejected now!
Dermont: Aye, sir! You heard the man! Get me forcefield back up around the core!
Brell: Captain McKnight take a team to search the ship They might have left a few behind in case we beat the odds when it comes to the warp core.
McKnight: Aye, sir. ::He checked his rifle again before gesturing his Marines to follow him, then told the Security guys to stay put.::
Logan: Captain, Dermont Coolant junction 6a vent through aux chamber and direct the energy through the discharge lines to arc into space, you don’t think I shot that place at random do you :: Turning he jogged over to his Marine Commander:: Captain
:: As Serala watched the Marines and Porus leave, the Captain called Jann over and she was about to call for a beam out, certain the Captain was about to give them the green light, but instead he asked Jann for something else. ::
:: Seeing that the Captain was busy, she decided take some initiative. There was an old Romulan axiom: Better to ask forgiveness than permission. Of course, on Romulus, forgiveness was rare and usually still came with death. Or, at least that is what her mother taught her. Still…::
Serala: :: Reaching out a hand to help the young man up. Are you okay? Ensign Knight, come with me. We're going to go shoot some torpedoes at those bastards!
Knight: :: Getting to his feet. :: I appreciate it :: coughing :: I’m no Tactical officer but I have some training with weapons systems. Let’s blow them to hell.
:: Just then, two Engineering personnel approached her. One of them carrying a power cable.::
Serala: You two must have done something terrible for Lieutenant Dermont to assign you to me.
Serala: We need to hurry. I want power back in the Torpedo Bay ASAP. Before they get out of range, I want to blow those…things…into scrap metal.
Knight: Sounds like a plan, let’s just make sure we don’t blow ourselves up in the process :: laughing
Williams: =/\= Williams to Atlantis. Does anyone read? =/\=
Brell: =/\= Brell here Commander. =/\=
Williams: =/\= We just lost visual contact with the mothership. What’s your situation over there? =/\=
oO They have a cloaking device. Of course, they do. Why would they not have one? Oo
Knight: I’ll be fine, Sir. Pardon my intrusion, but tell Cmdr. Willaims to scan for Subspace energy fluctuations and quantum fractures. :: coughing :: Cloaked ships have a tendency to rely on the fact no one is looking for them to begin with, as a result they often do little to hide such things.
Knight: Happy to help, now if you’ll excuse me sir. Myself and Ensign Serela are going to give those bots something to remember us by. :: Half starting to move Knight stopped himself :: And try jamming subspace frequency zero-one-four to two-three-six. It’s proved useful in the past.
:: With that, she led her small team at a trot down the passage upward to deck 10. As they were moving, she explained everyone's tasks to them::
Serala: You Engineers get me power any way you can. There is already a temporary patch from sickbay that will give me two shots, which I plan to make 4 torpedoes. I want more just in case.
Ensign Knight, since you know how to find a cloaked ship, once the targeting sensors have power, your job will be to find them for me. Until then, you and I will be manually arming and loading torpedoes.
Serala: Quite simply, Ensign, payback is a dish best served cold. And it is very cold in space.
:: A sly smile creepy over her face at that thought. Then, she took off at a trot, hurrying to get things up and running before the enemy escaped. ::
(( Torpedo Bay, Deck 10 ))
::Once they reached the doors to the Torpedo Bay, Yelchin produced a manual door opener, and they forced the doors open. ::
Serala: :: Entering :: Alright people. We've got work to do. Let's get to it! Let's teach those bastards a lesson!
(( OOC: This took me a while to put together. Hope I didn't miss anyone's tags. Knight: read this one. :) ))
