((Chief of Security’s Office-Deck 4-USS Atlantis))
((Time Index: Day 15? of Shoreleave))
((OOC: All thoughts and opinions strictly IC.))
Ganarvuss: Kidnapped? oO You’ve got to be kidding me. Oo
Ilana did her best not to roll her eyes. Three Starfleet officers, one of them a marine no less, kidnapped in broad daylight. If Ilana didn’t have a great deal of respect for the uniform Lephi was wearing, she wouldn’t believe her for a second. Being Chief of Security was going to be a lot more difficult than she’d anticipated, if people couldn’t even take care of themselves during shoreleave.
Lephi: ::pause:: Indeed, kidnapped for ransom no less.
Ilana watched the smile disappear from Lephi’s face and heard Thoran sigh next to her. At least the weight of the situation was settling on Lephi now.
Thoran: Do you have any idea where they took you?
Lephi: No, we were transported using transporter tags and taken somewhere off-site.
Ganarvuss: We can probably check the transporter logs and get some idea of that. I doubt the Illaran government is going to allow us down to investigate.
Ilana had had enough of Illaran security. They had refused to help her investigate after the trade conference fiasco and it was miracle they hadn’t demanded she extradite Lephi and Snow. Ilana wouldn’t be surprised if they changed their minds.
Lephi: I don't mean to overstep here, but am I sensing some hostility? The man that died showed no regard for my life, nor Liz's, nor even that Marine. Who knows what would have happened if we hadn't escaped, we all know Starfleet doesn't negotiate with terrorists.
Ilana stepped forward involuntarily ready to reply - precisely how she wasn’t sure, only that it would be with anger - but Thoran cut her off.
Thoran: Mr. Lephi, you were in a difficult situation and did what you thought best under the circumstances. It is not for us to judge that. You have been through quite the ordeal, perhaps we should pick this up another time, after you have had time to prepare your report?
Ilana stepped back, letting her anger dissipate as much as it could. It was good Thoran had stepped in. Ilana wasn’t thinking straight and she was vaguely aware of it. Getting Lephi away from her was probably for the best.
Lephi: Response
Thoran: In that case, you are dismissed. Go and get some rest and Thank you again for your time Mr. Lephi.
Lephi: Response
He waited until the Ferengi engineer had left before turning his attention back towards Ilana.
Thoran: Thank you for arranging this Mr. Ganarvuss. Your ideas from earlier, I would like them implemented as soon as is reasonable to do so.
Ganarvuss: Yes sir.
Thoran turned to leave and Ilana lowered herself onto the desk, gripping the edge of it tightly, focusing on breathing. After a moment she released the desk and walked around it. Not bothering to sit down, she typed out a memo to Snow, requesting a report as soon as possible. There was no need to exacerbate her anger by seeing Snow in person as well. She needed to cool off and think about Lephi’s report. Then she could determine if there was any need for disciplinary action.
