((USS Atlantis - Bridge))
BLUEHEART: His death changed the course of history.. The Romulans joined the Federation Alliance in the Dominion War following his death.. ::He slumped into the command chair, left hand running through his hair.:: If he doesn’t get born in 2299 to die in 2374, then.. ..
TOWNSON: ...history could be irrevocably changed.
BLUEHEART: Ugh. My head hurts just thinking about it!
::Tracey watched the slumped Captain in his chair as she stood with her hands clasped behind her back.::
TOWNSON: Captain...
::The Captain spoke at that moment.::
BLUEHEART: How do we send them ba----
RENNYN: =/\= Tiger Shark to Atlantis. Come in, please. =/\=
BLUEHEART: ::tapping the comms button:: =/\= Blueheart here. Go ahead, Ren. =/\=
RENNYN: =/\= I have a ...visitor here. A member of the Pike's crew, Lt. Tarch. She is alive and well. And she thinks there's something dangerous on her ship. =/\=
::Raj jumped out of his seat and signaled to Tracey to scan the Tiger Shark to verify the additional life sign on board and then cross-reference the findings with the Pike’s original crew manifest. Tracey returned to the Ops console and began the work she was signaled to perform. She then turned to look back at her Captain after confirming the request and nodded.::
BLUEHEART: =/\= Okay.. =/\= ::inhaling deeply:: =/\= It’s pretty obvious we’re dealing with a temporal anomaly here. Whether it’s distortion, dilation, displacement, loops, we’ll worry about soon enough, but our first priority is to make sure this Lieutenant Tarch is really well, physically and emotionally. =/\= ::pausing, casting a helpless glance at Tracey:: =/\= She’ll need to be checked out by our doctor and counselor. =/\= ::He looked to Tracey again.::
TOWNSON: ::nodding:: I'll contact sickbay and advise them to be on standby alert.
RENNYN: =/\= Do you want me to bring her to you? Is there any way to get the transporters operational? =/\=
BLUEHEART: ::turning to Tracey:: Get someone to work on transporters. I don’t like using them, especially when temporal anomalies are involved, but if there’s really something dangerous on that ship and we needed to evacuate our guys immediately, transporters are our best bet. Maybe Vedra and someone from Engineering.
TOWNSON: Yes,Captain.
BLUEHEART: =/\= We’re working on the transporters but for the moment, what’s the status of the away teams? =/\=
RENNYN: =/\= We're sitting very tight for the moment, Atlantis. Please advise. =/\=
BLUEHEART: =/\= What about the Voltaire? Is anyone on board keeping her engines hot, so to speak? =/\=
RENNYN: =/\= No, sir. She's empty while Dickens, Mattingly and T'Brei explore the Pike's bridge. =/\=
BLUEHEART: =/\= Okay, I see two options at the moment. Place Lt Tarch on the Voltaire and launch her on auto-pilot. We’ll have tractor beams on standby should she waiver in her course, which she shouldn’t, but just in case there’s temporal turbulence or something. =/\=
RENNYN: =/\= Problem is I'd have to leave the Tiger Shark to walk Lt. Tarch through the Pike and up to Voltaire. =/\=
TARCH: I'm not going back on the Pike.
RENNYN: =/\= What's the second option? =/\=
BLUEHEART: =/\= We’ll ask the Cathex to help. =/\=
RENNYN: =/\= Oh. =/\=
RENNYN: =/\= Captain, are you sure that's a good idea? We still don't know exactly what the Cathex was doing here, do we? I mean, they said they'd cooperate, but do we trust them with this? =/\=
BLUEHEART: =/\= Well do we have a choice? This woman holds the key to solving this entire mission! =/\=
TOWNSON: Captain...
::Once again, Tracey was cut off. This time by an unfamiliar voice that crackled to life on the comms.::
TARCH: =/\= This is Lt. Tarch of the USS Christopher Pike to USS Atlantis. Captain, I have another solution here. I have an idea of how to get a transporter working from the Tiger Shark. =/\=
BLUEHEART: ::arching an eyebrow and looking to Tracey while answering the lieutenant from the past:: =/\= Please to meet you too, lieutenant, and welcome to the 24th century. =/\= ::After a brief pause he remarked flatly.:: =/\= Okay explain. =/\=
TOWNSON: ::looking at the Captain with a skeptical look on her face, she shrugged:: Maybe they know something we don't.
TARCH: =/\= I've picked up a thing or two during my time in this nebula. And I think it's important that you and I talk. This is the fastest way we can make that happen. With your permission, sir...? =/\=
BLUEHEART: =/\= Ren? =/\=
RENNYN: =/\= I think I trust her, sir. And I can oversee her work. =/\=
BLUEHEART: ::to Tracey:: Commander?
TOWNSON: We don't have much of a choice, Captain.
BLUEHEART: ::nodding before speaking to Ren again:: =/\= Don’t take your eyes off her even for a second! =/\=
RENNYN: =/\= Aye, sir. We'll at least start looking at-- =/\=
::A high-pitched squeal burst through the comms. Raj slapped both his palms hard against his ears and grimaced from the pain the shrill noise inflicted upon his eardrums. Tracey quickly reached to close the com-system down. She then quickly recovered from the ear-shattering sound and looked at the com board.::
TOWNSON: We have lost contact with the away team, attempting to re-establish.
BLUEHEART: Lost contact?? How?!
TOWNSON: ::looking at her panel with a confused look on her face.:: This can't be right but it looks like a transporter signal is using the com-link as a piggy-back...but...
::Tracey turned and watched as someone materialized onto the bridge. Tracey quickly stood as other officers removed their phasers and pointed them at the new arrival. The human-looking female appeared unarmed.::
BLUEHEART: ::wryly:: It’s a good thing I activated a filter subroutine just in time. It would’ve been very awkward should you have brought a biological pathogen on board.
TARCH: response
BLUEHEART: ::narrowing his eyes somewhat:: Lieutenant Tarch, I presume?
TARCH: response
BLUEHEART: Welcome aboard the USS Atlantis. ::nodding:: I’m Captain Raj Blueheart and ::turning:: this is LtCmdr Tracey Townson, chief Intelligence officer.
TOWNSON: ::giving a curt nod:: Lieutenant. ::she withdrew her tricorder discretely and began to scan the woman.::
TARCH: response
BLUEHEART: How did you manage to transport over so quickly and without interference from the nebula?
TARCH: response
BLUEHEART: Okay, so you’re on board. Now let’s talk.
TARCH: response
TOWNSON: From your own personal perception, Lieutenant, how long ago did you arrive in this nebula?
TARCH: response
TOWNSON: Where and when did you learn that transporter trick you just used?
TARCH: response
::Tracey moved closer to the Captain and showed him the readings on the tricorder before closing and putting it away. It showed the woman was indeed a human but with traces of polaric energy on her body and clothing.::
BLUEHEART: respond
