::One constant in the universe that seemed to permeate existence, regardless of the species for the most part was how time seemed to flow when one was distracted from observing it or, engaged in enjoyable activities. Indeed, when one was preoccupied with something time seemed to slip away like a fog carried away by tempestuous winds. Or so it felt to the young Al-Leyan as he had spent the better part of three hours exploring the Odyssey class vessel he had originally expected to serve aboard. With wide eyed wonder, the security officer roamed the bowels of the immense starship. Though, it was not all purely exploration for exploration sake. Toryn found himself studying the layout of the identical decks. His tactical mind calculating the potential for boarders or operatives to move freely aboard ship. Where boarders could be repelled more easily, or what parts of the ship would be the least defensible. It was his training and the attitude readjustment therapy that had fixed him of his old conflicting and contrary way of thinking that had his mind racing. It would be the same once they were aboard the Victory and again when they finally made it to their true home for the foreseeable future. The USS Atlantis. ::

Raga: oO Half of the lounges would provide decent defensive positions, the other half are a complete nightmare. Oo

::He thought to himself as he passed by a lounge that fit into the former category. By chance he happened to come across the same lounge his new commanding officer was enjoying a respite as they awaited the Victory. The dark haired Al-Leyan paused in the doorway a moment, fingers brushing along the fabric of his gold uniform from an internal debate.::

Raga: oO I should inquire about the strangeness of our orders. Well...maybe.. Oo

::It took a few moments, again time seemed to slip by as he was focused on his own thoughts, yet eventually the Ensign strode into the lounge and stopped just in view of Commander Brell.::

Raga: Pardon me sir. Would you have a moment to converse?

::His shoulders were rigid, as was his posture, anyone who walked past in that moment would instantly see the green wafting off of him and the freshness of his departure from the Academy.::

Brell: Response

Raga: Thank you, Commander. ::His face softened into a sheepish smirk and he seemed to relax his stance with a nod.:: I'm a bit apprehensive about my new assignment. Which is what I wished to speak with you about. I was curious about the odd nature of our posting assignments. Is it common for Starfleet Command to have officers traverse across the galaxy and back like this just to ferry some crew from one ship to another when there might be other qualified and closer? It doesn't seem efficient.

Brell: Response

::His brow raised and the Ensign bashfully nodded:

Raga: Ah, yes. Branching out. (Al-Leyan phrase which can mean: Thinking beyond your allotted branch or about “the bigger picture”.)

::For a moment the anxiousness in the Al-Leyan faded and he gave Brell a concerned look.::

Raga: Thank you sir. I apologize for pestering you with this, I just couldn't help but feel like there's something more going on with the Atlantis. IN regards to why this particular group of officers was reassigned to her. It has my ears itching something fierce.

::As he said that his head canted slightly and his seemed to wince in irritation to the point it was clearly bothering him.::

Brell: Response

Raga: Oh! By the way sir, you weren't wrong about those Shimmershells. It was almost like eating back home. I think I'll try more Bolian dishes en route to the Atlantis. ::He cracked a smile at Brell.::

::Raga's stance relaxed and he leaned against the hull, glancing briefly out the window to the expanse of stars and the curve of the planet nearby. Of course, time is fleeting. He glanced a bit further out and glimpse the engine bloom of another vessel approaching. He expected the sudden call that came through his CO's comm badge.::

Jun: =/\= Jun to Commander Brell. The USS Victory has arrived and is ready to beam you and your officers aboard whenever you're ready.=/\=

Brell: Response

::He let out a soft sigh. Toryn had only ventured through a quarter of the Athena and now it was time to leave. At least being aboard the Victory would give him some time to acclimate to the Intrepid class. His belongings, what little he had brought from the Academy was still stored aboard the runabout. Before he backed away to fetch his things he gave Brell a nod.::

Raga: Yes sir. It won't take long for me to get my things from the runabout. Unless the winds change dramatically I will be there and ready.

::Thus far his had been an interesting start to his career and he couldn't help but wonder how long this hectic wind would carry them.::

Brell: Response
