((Cmdr. Tel-ar’s quarters, USS Athena))
:: Tal stood looking out into the infinite depths of space, it’s dark malignant presence brightened by stars and other stellar phenomenon. In some ways it mirrored his own feelings. ::
:: Getting transferred was nothing new to him, in fact there was a time when he was getting bounced from post to post, ship to ship and assignment to assignment almost every month. He had been Starfleet’s version of a hot potato. Captain Jaxx had finally put a stop to that and shortly after he had left to work for his 1st officer who had just been given her first command. ::
:: Now she was gone and the crew of the USS Athena was being broken up, scattered across a number of vessels with most of them being recalled to Federation space. It reminded him of when he had been stripped of command, not that he blamed Starfleet, after all he had reacted rather strongly to his wife leaving him, giving up her commission and taking his kids back to Earth without any warning or notification. ::
:: Officially it had been called a stress related mental episode even though he had not been required to step down. No, they had bounced him around, all over the fleet and he had been questioned and counselled to the point where he might have finally given in to certain uncivilized tendencies and run amok. That is if Captain Jaxx had not stepped in and taken a chance on a loose cannon with a rep for violence and extreme solutions. ::
:: A slight ghost of a smile drifted across his features as the memories. He had been stunned, almost as much as when Captain Faranfey had requested him. He had thought those days were long behind him, after all most captains did not want to take a chance with someone with his record. ::
:: Tal turned away from the window and looked around the room. It was even more bare than normal, all of his personal gear had already been packed, not that there had been that much. He had very little, one bag of uniforms and a couple crates of primitive hand to hand weapons. ::
:: Engineering had already removed the 5 pieces of furniture that had been in the room and they would be back soon to start removing the synthetic sandstone from the walls, floors and ceiling. After that they would most likely put in a number of dividing walls to turn it back into a conventional senior officers quarter’s. Not that he cared, rooms came and went and most likely he would move many more times before his number finally got punched. ::
:: He walked briskly across the room and out the door. His transportation would be leaving soon and it would most likely be a good idea not to have them have to wait for him. ::
