(( Main Shuttlebay, Deck 4, USS Astraeus ))
When Gwen'ora had ran into Sevantha Saa at the shuttle that would transport them to the USS Astraeus she couldn't have been happier. While their time had been short back at Starbase 118 before the blonde had left, it was nice at least to see a friendly and somewhat familiar face. At least this meant one of the individuals from her cadet class would be on the same ship as her! Not everyone would be new and that was a slight relief for the Ba'ku woman.
The hum of the runabout and the quiet chatter of the crewmen around Gwen reminded her of the beach from their cadet simulation. Just ebbing and flowing with the current. Excitement and nervousness stewed in as Gwen filled the atmosphere between her and Sevan with stories from after the Betazoid had left, excitedly adding her chatter to the hum of the runabout and other crew around them. Just rambling to catch Sevantha up on the end of the class to assignments.
Saa: We should prepare to board.
The red head did not have the chance to do anything more before give the woman beside her a sheepish grin at how much she had rambled before the two joined in the flurry as the doors opened on the runabout. The two stepped out into the shuttlebay as Gwen's green gaze swept the room curiously. Eventually landing on a woman in the standard red of Command who was standing to the side, with a quick glance Gwen saw the pips and quickly shifted her trajectory towards her before she came to a stop as the Commander spoke.
Serala: Welcome to the USS Astraeus. My name is Commander Serala and I am your First Officer. Unfortunately, I am just about to leave on a personal emergency, so I don't really have the time to show you about as I would prefer. But I did want to take a few minutes to welcome you aboard and see if you had any questions for me.
Saa: Thank you for the welcome, Commander Serala.
Tasen: Yes, thank you very much Commander.
Gwen kept her face even, trying her best to be respectful to her new first officer, even though inwardly she pushed at the curiosity that initially hit her. It was not her business and all she could do was silently hope that everything would be alright for the commander.
Serala: Mister Tasen, you can find the primary science complex on deck 8. Your department head is Lieutenant Commander Noa Levinson, though she has been indisposed lately. You can report in to the on-duty science officer for your assignment.
Tasen: Understood, Sir. I'll report to Deck 8 and figure out my way from there. I have a few questions for them as I heard there is a large arboretum, which I'm quite excited to do research in.
Serala: Doctor, I am afraid I am borrowing one of your colleagues, Doctor Doucet, so you're going to have to forego the greetings with her for a few weeks. But we have a fine staff that you will be working with. You can check in with Lieutenant JG Fergus or Lieutenant Hameldon and they can get you all set up.
Saa: I understand. Whatever the emergency is I hope everything works itself out. I’ll make sure to get myself settled into the new environment then craft a list of questions for Doctor Doucet upon her return she can assist me with.
Serala: Do either of you have any questions for me before I leave?
Saa: Yes, a few, I will try not to take too long. ::she took a mildly apologetic tone for taking more of the Commander's time than necessary:: What are our current mission parameters at this time? We’ve had a small debrief on the way here about the region we are stationed at and I’m sure someone can catch me up about the culture of the region as well, but is there anything pressing we should immediately see to?
Tasen: Ensign Saa covered the questions I was going to directly ask. I don't have any to add at this time. Most of what I have is more directed at my science supervisor, which I can ask once I report to them, Commander.
Gwen added to the end of Sevan's first bout of questions. The Ba'ku did not want to add more onto it and honestly Ensign Saa had covered the immediate ones she had been curious about.
Serala: Response
Saa: Also are there…are there any who are particularly adverse to Betazoid natural talents?
Serala: Response
Saa: I know there are many who are not fond of having their emotions read or being spoken to telepathically unannounced. ::Trying to explain without making the situation too personal:: and would like to be aware of the social protocol in the ship in regards to that.
Serala: Response
The woman could not stop the curious look over at Sevantha. She had read up on several prominent federation members when she had first chosen to leave Ba'ku years ago. Gwen had not wanted to be caught unaware of the vast universe she was tossing herself in after only living on Ba'ku for 100 plus years. These questions had Gwen curious about her fellow Ensign that she had graduated with.
Gwen quietly listened, chiming in when applicable as the conversation continued for a small bit as various information was shared. But as quickly as the introduction had started it shifted to an end.
Serala: Well, it's a pleasure to meet both of you. I really do wish I had the time to give you a proper welcome and a tour of the ship, but I do need to get underway. But once I return, my door is always open if you need anything.
Saa: Appreciated Commander, I do not think Ensign Tasen or myself will have issues finding someone to show us around.
Tasen: Thank you, Sir. Good luck with your Emergency Commander. We :: Gwen glanced over at Sevan with a small grin before directing her gaze back to the Commander respectfully :: will find our way!
Gwen smiled and glanced towards Sevan before she nodded towards where the cargo had been emptied. The woman led the way as she grabbed her bag and hefted it to her shoulder. Did it have a decent amount of things inside, yes. She would not admit how much of the contents was her seed collection in preparation to planting things in her new home.
Tasen: So, we should either find a guide, or enjoy getting lost. :: Gwen sent another grin towards Sevan before she began walking to the door :: This will test how much either of us researched the deck layout of the galaxy class ship, wouldn't it!
Saa: Response
Tasen: See! It may not be that bad. What's the worst place we could stumble into?
Saa: Response
Tasen: Okay that would be ::a light pause as she pursed her lips:: interesting. :: Gwen would step into the corridor outside of the shuttle bay and look up and down it carefully :: maybe we'll find a guide? If not, let's hope we don't have that bad of luck.
Saa: Response
(( OOC: With the convo skip in the middle I do hope this was alright! ))
