(( Holodeck, USS Astraeus ))

She’d replicated an authentic tennis outfit for women, complete with the skirt and all. The tennis shoes were a bit uncomfortable, and she’d made note to have the replicator make adjustments to her shoe sizes in the future. She rounded the corner and approached the holodeck, entering and looking for S’Rorr. There was already a full sized tennis court and he was already present. She knew the basic rules of the game, having watched it a few times on Earth, but she’d never played before.

oO Honestly, how hard can it be? And just remember, given how much time he apparently puts into this exercise, he’s very good at it, so don’t take it personally if you lose. Oo

Shivara: S’Rorr, I finaally maade iit.

S’Rorr: Great! You look like a tennis player, you must have done some quick research.

Shivara: Yes, I deciided thaat if I was going to do thiis, I should maake iit aas authentiic as I caan.

S’Rorr: Well, you did a good job! So, let's start with some warmups. We don't have to play against each other until you've got the hang of it.

She smiled at the compliment and nodded in agreement with his suggestion. She had worried that if she tried to play him, she would just look foolish. She moved over to his side of the court to the spot he was indicating then looked to him for guidance.

S'Rorr: I edited the basic program to make things a little easier for us, so if you want the ball, ::holding out his hand:: just hold out your hand and say 'Ball'.

She watched as a fuzzy ball appeared in his hand. She was fascinated by that for some inane reason. But as she watched, he tossed it in the air and hit it with his racket, making a most satisfying sound. The ball arced across the net to the other side of the court.

She quickly summoned a ball of her own and did likewise, but the ball didn’t even make it to the net. Disappointed, she did it again, this time hitting the net. The next several attempts weren’t much better, but finally she managed to get one over and jumped in joy at the fact.

As they practiced, S’Rorr began to carry on a conversation, and if she was being honest, that was the part that interested her the most.

S'Rorr: Ever been to Cari'Ol?

Shivara: I visited there once or twice. It was nice.

S'Rorr: I grew up there. My family has a home on the east side, near the river.

Shivara: Oh really? Tell me about them.

S'Rorr: Well, there's my mother, M'Yown, and my mother, M'Mir. They're both doctors. Then there's my older sisters. M'Sanda is a doctor like our parents. M'Noa and M'Han, she's my favorite, study xenobiology and particle physics with the Vulcans.

Shivara: Well, they sound very interesting. I would love to meet them some day.

S'Rorr: D'you have family?

Shivara: Yes, my father is a diplomat and my mother is a doctor. Clearly, I took after her side.

S'Rorr: You've got a good serve.. Feel like you're read to jump the net and see if you can get some points on me?

Shivara: I believe I can give that a try.

She quickly skirted around the net and took position on the other side. She waited for him to serve, and tried her best to return it, but only clipped the side of the ball causing it to swerve out of bounds. The computer called the point for S’Rorr.

Computer: Fifteen Love

S’Rorr: Response

They traded serves and volleys, but in the end, despite her continually improving, S’Rorr’s experience and expertise won out. But she didn’t feel bad. She’d had a wonderful time getting to know him and she hoped she’d have many more such opportunities in the future.

Shivara: Thanks for that. I had fun.

S’Rorr: Response

(( OOC: Gonna cut it here, but if you do come to the Chin’toka, we can resume their friendship. ))
