LIeutenant Commanders Chythar Skyfire & Tim Alentonis: The Apology & the Aftermath

As Kadain tried to make rounds, he strained a bit against the backpack leash as he wandered closer toward S’Rorr and glanced up at him, hands outstretched as though wanting to pet him. Chythar felt the tugging on the backpack leash and cast a glance back toward his wife.
C. Skyfire: :: To Lael :: ~ I got this, love. You can go mingle. ~
He then followed after the two year old, with the leash in his off hand.
K. Skyfire: Tranta?
S’Rorr: Tranta? ::repeated quizzically::
Chythar knew his wee lad was obsessed with the thranta plushie that they’d gotten him, but at the same time he hadn’t had time to really teach the boy anything about other species that they were dealing with on a regular basis. He knelt down next to the youngster and placed his hands on the boy’s shoulders.
C. Skyfire: That’s not a thranta, son. This is S’Rorr, he’s a Caitian like the captain.
K. Skyfire: Like Junu?
C. Skyfire: No, Kaidan. Like Captain Mei’konda.
He stood stlowly and smiled softly toward the Catian. He did his best to stay relaxed and flashed his most apologetic smile at the counselor.
C. Skyfire: I apologize, S’Rorr. He’s two. He thinks you’re a thranta, which is a kind of canine from Betazed. And Junu is our wolf cat.
S’Rorr: ::Laughing a little:: No no, it's okay! So that's what a 'Tranta' is, huh?
S'Rorr directed his question to Kaidan and nimbly squatted down, tail wrapped around himself as he looked Kaidan in the eyes and put on a genuine smile and a cheerful, kid friendly tone of voice.
S'Rorr: Hi! You must be Kaidan Christoph. I'm Rory. Can you say Rory?
K. Skyfire: Roary?
Chythar chuckled a bit as he grabbed a brownie off the table, eyes still focused on Kadain and S’Rorr as the pair of them interacted. It was rare for him to see other departments interacting with the kid, since he spent so much time in sickbay.
S'Rorr: Can you say Caitian? That's what I am. What are you?
K. Skyfire: Kayshen?
S'Rorr: Haha.. Close enough! Hey, I've never met a wolf cat before, is Junu nice?
K. Skyfire: Yea! She likes people!
He then extended his hand to try and pet the Caitian’s tail, fascinated by its movements.
C. Skyfire: I’m sorry. He wants to pet your tail.
S'Rorr: ::picking up his tail to offer it to Kaidan:: Hehe! You can pet if you want to, it doesn't bother me! Here, how about this?
Kadain reached his hands out to pet the tail, his hands exploring the fabric and the fur. He chuckled a bit as
K. Skyfire: Pretty! Your fur is so soft!
S'Rorr: You've got fantastic hair, Kaidan. That's a really cool golden color.
K. Skyfire: Daddy’s color!
S'Rorr stood up carefully and tugged down at the neatly pressed dress uniform jacket to straighten it back out, as he let Kaidan keep holding onto his tail. Chythar continued munching his brownie as S’Rorr spoke.
S'Rorr: You must be excited, Dr. Skyfire! Twins, that's going to be two handfuls and then some, I'll bet.
C. Skyfire: :: swallowing the mouthful of brownie :: Yes, very. Probably more like four handfuls, and if you want to include the two kids I have already…then eight handfuls would probably be more accurate. Ten if you include the hormonal surge in the wife.
S'Rorr: I'm glad I got a chance to meet you. Everything I've heard about you from the crew has been stellar.
C. Skyfire: Happy to not disappoint.
Kadain pulled a bit harder on the tail in front of him, causing the ensign to wobble a bit but still maintained his graceful stance. Chythar reached down to carefully extract the ensign’s tail from his son’s hands.
Alentonis: Come on, Kadain. Let him go. We have others to meet and greet.
K. Skyfire: Bye, Rawry!
Tam: What is this? It is delicious.
C. Skyfire: Sangria, I think. One of Cadet Skyler’s contributions.

S'Rorr: Thank you for inviting me to the party. It's really, really lovely. You both look very handsome. Are you excited?
Chythar shifted his grip on the raktajino to his off-hand where the leash was, then returned the handshake of the counselor.
C. Skyfire: Beyond words. A bit shocked at having twins though.
Rosek-Skyfire: ::chuckles:: Mo ghràdh, you act like I don’t have a twin brother. I would actually have been shocked if we never had twins. As a doctor, you know the odds double if there are twins on either side.
Truth be told, Chythar had honestly forgotten about that. Out of all the physicians he met, such predictions were more Dassa’s specialty than his. He was a medical researcher with a specialty in xenomedicine.
S'Rorr: A toast! To new family, new friends, and new frontiers.
Tam: Hear, hear. Congratulations on your new family members and the new path your life will take.
C. Skyfire: Thank you. We’ll need all the luck we can get.
Wyatt spoke incoherently to nobody in particular and made his way out of the room. It made sense, Chythar supposed. The doctor wasn’t much for parties either, and there was something high-energy about keeping an eye on Kadain. He seemed like he’d had way too much chocolate or somesuch.
Caldwell: Is he ok?
Rosek-Skyfire: ::smiles wanly:: Are any of us, really? Everyone reacts to this sort of thing in different ways. I’m certain he just needs some time to process. I’ll check on him tomorrow.

She leaned against Chythar’s shoulder, squeezing the crook of his elbow tightly.
