(( Main Shuttlebay, Deck 4, USS Astraeus ))
oO…Gwen?Oo
She hadn’t seen the red haired science officer since their graduation on Starbase 118. Unlike many eager to get to their stations, Sevantha had put in a request of delay to visit the Ohmallera memorial before making her way to the USS Astraeus, meaning she’d missed hearing the other graduating cadets’ postings. The ride over, she’d let Gwenora lead the conversation, chiming in gently to explain her previous absence trying not to let the Ba’Ku’s emotions infect her too much. All conversation came to a stop as the ship had come into view, the galaxy class USS Astraeus, a ship that had served with honors in the Dominion War.
Saa: We should prepare to board.
She was speaking to both Gwenora and herself, her bags and personal items were stored in the cargo, she was already in uniform, what else was there to worry about?
As they stepped off the runabout, Sevantha noted the iconic red uniform of command making a direct line towards the two of them. She let out a deep exhale and attempted to focus.
Serala: Welcome to the USS Astraeus. My name is Commander Serala and I am your First Officer. Unfortunately, I am just about to leave on a personal emergency, so I don't really have the time to show you about as I would prefer. But I did want to take a few minutes to welcome you aboard and see if you had any questions for me.
Saa: Thank you for the welcome, Commander Serala.
She would offer a respectful bow of her head to the officer before falling quiet as the Commander turned to address Gwenora first regarding the current situation and where they would check in.
Tasen: Response
Serala: Mister Tasen, you can find the primary science complex on deck 8. Your department head is Lieutenant Commander Noa Levinson, though she has been indisposed lately. You can report in to the on-duty science officer for your assignment.
Tasen: Response
Then Serala turned her attention back to her. Sevantha did everything in her power to keep her empathy in check, to not let curiosity of the situation guide her to be more open to influence than she intended. Still standing still, keeping to protocol she listened to the Commander speak.
Serala: Doctor, I am afraid I am borrowing one of your colleagues, Doctor Doucet, so you're going to have to forego the greetings with her for a few weeks. But we have a fine staff that you will be working with. You can check in with Lieutenant JG Fergus or Lieutenant Hameldon and they can get you all set up.
Saa: I understand. Whatever the emergency is I hope everything works itself out. I’ll make sure to get myself settled into the new environment then craft a list of questions for Doctor Doucet upon her return she can assist me with.
Immediately into the fray without a moment to spare and her superior doctor out for the time. Sevantha could appreciate a small bit of sink or swim feeling it invoked in her, what was that human phrase about pressure and creating diamonds?
Serala: Do either of you have any questions for me before I leave?
Saa: Yes, a few, I will try not to take too long. ::she took a mildly apologetic tone for taking more of the Commander's time than necessary:: What are our current mission parameters at this time? We’ve had a small debrief on the way here about the region we are stationed at and I’m sure someone can catch me up about the culture of the region as well, but is there anything pressing we should immediately see to?
Serala: Response
Tasen: Response
Saa: Also are there… ::She seemed to try to find the best way to verbalize this:: are there any who are particularly adverse to Betazoid natural talents?
Serala: Response
Saa: I know there are many who are not fond of having their emotions read or being spoken to telepathically unannounced. ::Trying to explain without making the situation too personal:: and would like to be aware of the social protocol in the ship in regards to that.
((OOC: Skipping ahead a bit to the end of the conversation, but please feel free to develop this conversation a bit here. ))
Serala: Well, it's a pleasure to meet both of you. I really do wish I had the time to give you a proper welcome and a tour of the ship, but I do need to get underway. But once I return, my door is always open if you need anything.
Saa: Appreciated Commander, I do not think Ensign Tasen or myself will have issues finding someone to show us around ::there was focus on the fact Ensign Tasen would particularly thrive in this::
Tasen: Responses
