Lieutenant Commander Christopher Caldwell: Doom and Gloom

Caldwell: Wyatt, come on, I'm telling you. Even if you ignore all of the reasons why this makes no sense whatsoever, if... if they were actually thinking about mothballing the Astraeus the Captain would have told us, right?

oO Am I trying to convince him or me? Oo

Ral: I only hope you’re right.  I… we, have all put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into making the ship what it is today.  Maybe the Captain can’t say anything yet!

Clearly his efforts had not been as convincing as he had hoped. For a moment he was silent, staring out of the viewport for a moment.

Caldwell: He would have told us.

He turned back to face Ral.

Caldwell: He would have found a way to tell us, you know he wouldn't keep something like that from us.

Ral: I'm going to double check those orders with SF Command.

Caldwell: I'm sure it's not necessary but it's up to you.

oO I hope Ral can be discreet, if Starfleet Command have accidently let the cat out of the bag... no pun intended, then flagging it to them was unlikely to go down well. Oo

Caldwell: I really wouldn't worry, I'm sure it's nothing.

Ral: Either way I’m still going to be leaving the ship at some point and I’ll miss everyone.  I know we haven’t spent that much time together but I’m going to miss that sarcastic bluntness you're such an expert at ::grinning::  

The sudden shift back to the personal surprised him. It was good to see Ral smile, even if it was a rather cheeky grin following the playful jab. He certainly didn't mind, in fact it was a good a compliment as he'd had for some time. 

Caldwell: Well... it's a carefully honed skill and like all skills, it requires regular practice to maintain such a high level of proficiency. I'm sure everything will work out ok though.

He held Ral's gaze for a moment.

Caldwell: Everything will be ok Wyatt, trust me. I'm sure it's all just a misunderstanding.

Ral: Response

Caldwell: So, whilst we wait for your future of doom and gloom, do you have things to do or do you want to head back to the party?

Ral: Response

Caldwell: That makes perfect sense to me.

Ral: Response
