((Corridor, Deck 9, USS Astraeus))
101: Go go go, hurry!
Esa led the way down the corridor, and 101 scrambled back up to their feet to follow. Only once 000 was out of sight did either of them dare to speak again.
Kiax: We need to find somewhere safe, and somewhere we can arm ourselves…
101: If this is happening to everybody, is anywhere on the ship safe?
Their odds certainly didn’t seem great, but surely they weren’t the only unaffected officers on the ship…
Kiax: I hate to ask, but are we going to be able to hide with your synaptic link? If the borg have assimilated Zero’s half of it, won’t they know everything you know; including where you are?
That made 101 about ten times more nervous. They raised one hand up to touch the implant on the side of their head, heart fluttering nervously in their chest.
101: I… I don’t know. Nothing like this has ever happened before… but… the information Zero and I get from each other is usually subconscious and vague. Maybe it’ll be okay.
Kiax: Moreover, Zero knew about the PADD, it would be safe to assume if there are other Borg on the ship they know too… Which makes it, and us, a target…
Esa paused.
Kiax: I don’t mean to be condescending, but do you want a lift? We might cover more ground quicker…
On any other day, 101 would have laughed at the very idea. It was silly, but just outrageous enough to make sense…
101: …Wouldn’t it be difficult for you to carry me? I can be faster, I promise I’ll keep up.
000 may not have been able to keep that promise, but 101 was much more athletically inclined... Even just thinking about 000 for a moment stung. 101 didn’t want to imagine what would happen if nobody could fix this.
101: What should we do…?
Kiax: ::Decisively:: Weapons first, then to the Bridge.
101: Don’t you think there would be tons of Borg around the Bridge? Maybe we should try something else, something outside of the box…
Kiax: Response
101 couldn’t help but stare a moment, taken completely off guard by the suggestion.
101: What? What do you want to go to Deck 35 for?
Kiax: Response
Going all the way to Deflector Control in an attempt to block a signal that may or may not be responsible for their Borg friends was an interesting theory… but it was also their only theory. 101 pursed their lips a moment, clearly indecisive, but eventually nodded.
101: Okay… but that’s a long way. We’re going to need to be lucky with the turbolifts and hope nobody interrupts us.
Step one was to figure out the best way to get to the nearest turbolift.
101: Do you want to run for the nearest lift, or try sneaking to one through the Jefferies tubes?
Kiax: Response
