(( Bridge, Deck 1, USS Astraeus ))

Gwen was listening quietly as she worked. She had a lot to learn and studying scans and what they had done today might be a good way of getting her learning the ins and outs of what Alentonis had pulled off. She had already gleamed quite a bit from the last few days in Stellar Cartography.

Mei’konda: I want to maake sure that we--

The sound that echoed through the ship and shook the area around them a bit had Gwen's eyes slightly wide as she put her hands squarely on the console before her just in case a follow up explosion rocked the bridge. The only follow up was the audible ones as alarms immediately began blaring through the bridge.

Mei’konda: Status report! What was that?

It was odd how one who was so unused to the craziness of a starship could fall into training she had received in the academy. Quickly the scientist was scanning the ship.

Serala: Response

Alentonis / Matthews: Responses

Doucet: Wait, did you say theta radiation? How many trapped inside?

Gwen had honed in on the deck in question and was setting scans for abnormal chemicals. Explosions meant reactions meant something odd could be propagating through the area.

Tasen: Scans also indicating it was an exothermic based explosion. There are high levels of heat varying in temperature based on distance from the epicenter...

oO Radiation and heat...those poor people in the operations center...Gwen do not dwell on that...focus on work. Oo

Caldwell / Tam: Responses

Mei’konda: Red alert. All haands to emergency staations.

Matthews: Response

Everything was moving suddenly much quicker than it had prior...or was that the effect of Gwen's heart pounding in her ears. Nerves were a beast on their own, but this being the first instance of something like this not being some crazy training exercise in the academy had her highly focused and it sounded like her heart had moved upward to sit behind her eardrum even though she knew it had to be where it was supposed to be. The light's shifted around the bridge as Gwen finally shifted in her seat to give Commander Alentonis a worried look before her gaze moved to their Captain.

Mei’konda: Doctor Doucet, prepaare the Medical depaartment for incoming casualties, whether at Sickbay or at Operations, I leaave the logistics up to you. Commander Serala, I want you down on deck five, coordinaating rescue efforts. Ensign Tam, Ensign Tasen, joiin them, just in case there are other concerns outsiide of their expertiise. Hurry!

Doucet: Yes, sir. I’ll stop by Sickbay first and then meet you on Deck 5, Commander.

Serala / Tam: Responses

Tasen: Understood, Captain.

Gwen did not hesitate as she stood from her station and gave a respectful nod towards the Commander she had been told to join and then turned her gaze to the others in the bridge who had been told to head to Deck Five. The doctor in question had already rushed to the turbolift and was gone. Knowing another available one would be coming, Gwen hurried with the others to the next available lift.

(( Turbo Lift,
USS Astraeus ))

As soon as the lift closed, Gwen turned her gaze to Ensign Tam and Commander Serala. Outwardly, Gwen was showing a calm face, her shoulders sat. Even though inwardly her nerves were still causing the steady rhythm in her chest to sound deadening.

Tasen: Commander, on arrival, what would you want the two of us to focus on first?

Serala / Tam: Response

Tasen: Understood, Sir. I can begin working on that.

Serala / Tam: Response

Gwen's gaze momentarily looked at Tam and let that calm look fade for a moment to give the other younger officer a nervous grin, wondering if Ensign Tam was used to this level of explosive madness yet. Or if she too was inwardly a jumble of nerves. The turbo lift continued to descend and Gwen mentally prepared herself, wondering just how bad the scene before them would be when those doors opened.

Tasen: Commander...is there anything specific we should expect in there?

The Ba'ku woman had not dealt with anything like this before. Sure she had dealt with training activities within the academy and what had befallen Ba'ku all those years ago...but an explosion in a section of the ship that was probably heavily occupied by officers? This was not something she was used to or had dealt with in the past. Would she be able to handle it. Yes. She knew this. Gwen had worked under pressure enough to know she could function and make herself do so. Besides...it was always better to ask.

Serala / Tam: Response
