(( Main Bridge, Deck 1, USS Astraeus ))
Tasen: Sol Station's shields are... ::pauses:: they suddenly raised...back at 30%.
Mei’konda: Alentonis got it done. Let’s hope it holds.
Matthews: Their weapons are charged, Captain…they’re locking phasers…
Mei’konda: Prepaare for impact. Ready on those phasers, Matthews.
Kiax: Response
Tasen: Sol Station's shields are still taking a beating...but they seem to be holding better-
Gwen tried to say quickly before the ship rocked hard and caused angry sparks to fly from the monitor. She flinched and held on. Glad that the shaking didn't last as she shifted in her seat and kept working.
Matthews: Direct hits, Sir… Looks like they're targeting the secondary hull… forward shields down by twelve percent…
Mei’konda: Helm, zed-minus ten thousand meters, full impulse! Lieutenant, open fiire on those torpedoes!
Matthews: Response
Mei’konda: Helm, keep the saucer faciing them. We need to buy the away teaam as much time as possible, and the staardrive can’t take the pounding!
Helm: Aye, sir!
Gwen'ora quickly shifted the sensors to scanning the field and the ship. For both the study of the field and their effects but also for the results. Gwen hoped that it worked...Commander Kaix was brilliant and the Ba'ku just hoped it worked...gave them some solace in the crazy.
Mei’konda: That siignal may have been interrupted. Helm… briing us back toward the station. Get us out of raange, if you can. Tasen, whaat is the status of the life form readiings on the Thunderchild?
Tasen: Life forms...the amount reading as borg are dropping and changing back to reading as Federation species the longer they stay in that field, Sir.
Mei’konda: Then let’s taake advantage of it. Mister Matthews, get ready to intercept more incomiing torpedoes, but I intend to get us out of here as soon as our awaay team and the people they rescue are back on board.
Matthews: Response
The chirp of Gwen's comm badge caused her to jump lightly before she turned her gaze away from the sensor readings.
oO Please be that the changelings are secure...and not just running amuck. Oo
Tam: =/\= Ensign Tam to Ensign Tasen. =/\=
Tasen: =/\= Ensign Tasen here, are our...slimy guests, secure? =/\=
Tam: =/\= Vents and conduits around all Changelings are sealed and covered with forcefields. =/\=
Tasen: =/\= That is good news. I'm glad you verified that with all the changelings. =/\=
Tam: =/\= That’s right, I’m taking no chances. You have no idea how humiliating it was to chase a deadly child around a group of unsuspecting people. And how messy it was. Tam out. =/\=
oO Child? Oo
Gwen gave a bewildered look over her shoulder at the others on the bridge as confusion set in. At least that answered what the halves were but that...was an absolutely terrifying thought. Children were balls of energy without experience. Thinking of a changeling acting like a child when they definitely not that young...Gwen shook herself
Mei’konda: =/\= Astraeus to away team. =/\=
Away team. Yes. Gwen quickly shifted back to the station's status and the status of those within the
Caldwell: =/\= Hello? =/\=
Mei’konda: =/\= We’re still in raange. What is the staatus of the pattern enhaancers? =/\=
Alentonis: =/\= Far as I know they’re all set up in the immediate vicinity. =/\=
Caldwell: =/\= Pretty sure... Borg didn't get... them. =/\=
Mei’konda: =/\= Understood. Commander Kiax is coordinaating with the transporter rooms. We’ll lower our least vulneraable quadrant of shields when you’re ready, and we’ll get all of you baack on board. =/\=
Kiax: =/\= Just say the word, and we’ll have you back on board as soon as. =/\=
Caldwell: =/\= Word please. =/\=
Gwen's red brows were furrowed at how Caldwell was talking. Whatever had happened over there...had not left Lieutenant Caldwell in a good spot. Something was wrong...
Matthews: =/\= Responses =/\=
Alentonis: =/\= I've managed to reinforce the station shields by another 10 percent, sir. =/\=
Caldwell: =/\= Bloody marvellous! Please help yourself to a drink then write to my club for full remuneration! =/\=
Matthews: =/\= Responses =/\=
Tasen: Can confirm the reinforcement on the shields...though the station is taking a pummeling.
Caldwell: =/\= Hello? I'd really liked to be beamed up now please. =/\=
Gwen shifted her focus to that of the away team, verifying that the work done earlier was still holding. With the pattern enhancers there they had a chance of getting them and others back still. A high chance which was good.
Mei’konda: =/\= Deep breaaths, Lieutenant. Keep yourself caalm. We’ll haave you out of there momentaarily. Commander, siignal the station to ? =/\=
Kiax: Ensign, make sure you don’t lose that lock on the away team.
Tasen: Yes Sir. I'll do my best.
Caldwell: =/\= If anyone can hear me, beam me up please. ::Slurred:: Mergency... trrrranspit =/\=
They had the lock. It was shaky every now and then but right now, the locks were present...now if she could clear them up. Gwen frowned as she worked, trying to clear up anything she could. Mei’konda: Matthews, drop shield quaadrant four. Commander Kiax, send the siignal to energiize! Tasen, giive Kiax as much pattern as you caan!
Gwen nodded, trying to do her best to adjust what she could. They had lost so many people already...they did not need to lose anyone else.
Tasen: Understood, I'll need a moment...
Kiax / Matthews: Responses
It took Gwen a moment but she was doing what she could to help get as much pattern as possible. At least she hoped. By whoever or whatever controlled the stars she hoped the things she was doing were enough...keep the lock and keep it strong enough to get everyone out. Give it enough pattern to where they won't turn into people data soup.
Gwen held her breath as she watched the locks as they vanished. Not...in a bad way but because she hoped the transport that Commander Kiax was doing was working...
oO Please work... Oo
All she could do was continue to work. Continue to collect data and provide it to the people who were doing the crazy feat of dragging people from the sol station as it fell apart. After the insanity and madness of today...Gwen just let herself fall into the work. Into logic and science...just let herself trust in that and that alone. For in a moment like this that's what she held onto while she worked.
Gwen waited. She wasn't going to ask till someone else did. Or at least till someone let out the breath they all seemed to be collectively holding. When she heard an exhale behind her, Gwen took the chance to turn her chair slightly to face the others, a worried look on her face, before she spoke up.
Tasen: We got them all?
Kiax / Matthews: Responses
Mei’konda: Raise shields, Matthews. When they’re ready to rematerialiize, have them route Caldwell’s pattern directly to Siickbay. He didn’t sound good. The rest can go to triiage as normal. Good work, everyone.
Kiax / Matthews: Response
Gwen let out a deep breath before she was reminded quickly that her side was a mess as that throbbed angrily. With a small sigh, Gwen turned her attention and scans back to that of the station.
Mei’konda: Helm, bring us away from the staation, full impulse, but keep our antilepton field around the Thunderchild for now... It’s time we prepaared to get out of here. Set a course to Vulcan.
