(( City Center, Callis I ))

It was quick. It was chaotic. The moment between coherent and incoherent passed in the blink of an eye. Fortunately, too, were her team's reflexes - they managed to disarm the hallucinating and/or delusional Suliban, and now they had to figure out what to do with them. MacKenzie pointed to Syn definitively.

MacKenzie: ::to Cole:: Sit on them until I figure out how to deal with them.

She pulled the other two aside.

MacKenzie: There's something obviously wrong with them, but they're a loose canon.

Brexis: For the foreseeable future we need to keep weapons or anything that might be used as a weapon away from them. ::Gesturing behind her:: That whole situation could have gone very wrong very fast.

Alex stood with her shoulders pressed back, clearly physically uncomfortable.

Storm: Do we have anything back at headquarters that we can use to restrain her?  Somehow, I’m doubting that restraints are standard on escape pods, but there has to be something - even if only sturdy fabric.

MacKenzie's eyes widened slightly and she shrugged her shoulders with slight exasperation as she continued to look back toward the pair of officers who were within sight but out of earshot.

MacKenzie: What am I supposed to do with them? I don't know how to begin to figure out what treating them might look like, let alone without any tech at our disposal.

Brexis: It’s an impossible situation Sir. We have to keep the rest of us safe, but it does feel inherently wrong to not keep them protected also.

Storm: Our job is to keep everyone safe - even them.  If this is a medical issue, either from the berries or from a concussion during the landing, this isn’t their fault.

She threw up her hands.

MacKenzie: So what do you recommend? We take them back and tie them up until someone comes to rescue us?

Brexis: There has to be something more…. Humane?

Storm:  I think we restrain them and keep a guard on them at all times.

MacKenzie: Agreed, I don't see an alternative at this point.

Brexis: Wait. Back at the Churchy place or whatever the hells it is we’ve been living in. The basement. The cages. ::gesturing wildly:: We could stick them in one of those and take turns keeping watch. That way they aren’t tied up, but can still keep all of us safe.

Storm:  I’m not saying that I don’t agree, but have we found the keys to those cages?  We would need them to make it work.

Alex clasped her hands behind her back and worked her shoulders as MacKenzie picked up the conversation.

MacKenzie: It's certainly an option, I suppose, but not having keys complicates things a bit...

Brexis: If it is just a bad reaction to something like Cole suggested, maybe it will only be temporary. The cages can keep them contained for the time being until we can rule some things out.

Storm:  Should we split up?  Some of us could escort the ensign back to safety, and some of us could see if there’s something out here yet to find.

MacKenzie:  I don't love the idea, but it might be the only feasible way forward if we want to try to secure additional resources while mitigating our risk... Thoughts?

Storm:  Cole seems to have…

Storm shook her head slowly as though she was searching for the right way to define the relationship they'd observed so far.

Storm:  I don’t know … a connection?  An affinity for the Ensign?

Brexis: Response

MacKenzie: And so you're thinking...?

Storm:  She might be the best one to watch over her - at least to start.  Nat might be able to reach her in a way that we ::releasing her hands from behind her back and gesturing to the three of them:: just can’t.

Brexis: Response

Storm:  What if Brexis and I … ::Shrugging and nodding to MacKenzie:: Or you and I continue out here, and the rest escort the ensign to headquarters.

Brexis: Response

MacKenzie nodded slowly as she pondered the options. None of them was great. They had an ensign who was all but unknown to them who had proven to be - for one reason or another - an absolute firecracker that had slim to no credibility as far as the commanding officer of the Artemis was concerned. But, they didn't have a way to restrain them, and it wasn't like they could just dispose of them... but they also couldn't trust them to be a contributing member of the team. Not yet. Not until they figured out what had triggered the Suliban to act the way they did.

She marched back to the pair of officers while Syn seemed to be in the process of discussing warp cores.

MacKenzie: Things seem to be a little calmer over here...

Syn/Cole: Response

Brexis/Storm: Response

She nodded, thankfully.

MacKenzie: Lieutenants Brexis and Cole will escort Ensign Syn back to camp. See if you find out what is causing their hallucinations, including whether or not there might be something wrong with the berries we've all been eating.

Syn/Cole/Brexis/Storm: Response

MacKenzie: Lieutenant Storm and I will scout ahead for what little daylight remains to see if we can find anything useful or find out what might have happened to the people that built this city.

Syn/Cole/Brexis/Storm: Response

They helped Syn and Cole to their feet and prepared to move out. With MacKenzie and Storm prepared to move in one direction, and the rest prepared to move in the other, MacKenzie looked over her shoulder, feeling the need to state the implied.

MacKenzie: And don't let them have anything sharp.

Cole/Brexis/Syn: Response

MacKenzie: ::nodding to Storm:: We should be able to make good time. Let's see if we can find anything useful.

Storm: Response
