(( Science Lab 3, Deck 9 - USS Artemis-A ))
Imril turned their tricorder in the direction of Richards.
Imril: Does anything here read to you as a change in the crystal?
Richards: Response
Imril: I would be willing to go through the ritual again in the holodeck, under the normal lighting conditions.
Morgan nodded slowly.
Morgan: I would be willing to… observe the results of the ritual and analyze the readings.
ValhJeahn nodded, as they pocketed their Crystal.
ValhJeahn: I am willing to, but perhaps Scientist Richards should abstain, just in case. Also Lieutenant Imril was the only one who apparently had a reaction.
Richards: Response
Imril: Whatever comes of the scans or our discussions, thank you for sharing the ritual with us, ValhJeahn.
Morgan nodded.
Morgan: Indeed. It was a kind gesture. (beat) Are we agreed that we should move this conversation to the holodeck?
ValhJeahn nodded, unsure.
ValhJeahn: If that is the best place.
Imril: For the immediate purpose, it may well be. In that it is a very customizable space. We can program it to replicate any of the physical details that we’ve recorded from the New Hope.
Hopefully, that would have to include the smell and pollutants from the fire that had spread through part of the ship before Imril’s away team.
Richards: Response
Morgan: And as I understand it, we want to see what effect the lighting might have on us, how the crystals respond, or don’t, and what we can glean about what kinds of experiments happened in that lab. Do I have it right?
ValhJeahn looked to Doctor Morgan and Scientist Richards.
Richards: Response
Morgan nodded.
Morgan: Sam, I’m happy to give you a quick scan if you’d prefer to be safe. We don’t know anything about the crystals, after all…
ValhJeahn decided to intervene.
ValhJeahn: I would consider a personal favor, so I could be at ease while trying again.
Richards: Response
ValhJeahn smiled and nodded at them. Curious, they queried.
ValhJeahn: Was there any side effect?
Morgan/Richards: Response
They nodded again, more at ease.
Imril paid closer attention to the shape and of Yurum’s blowholes. Trying to pin down that aspect of their body language.
ValhJeahn: I am glad to know.
Morgan/Richards: Response
Imril began gathering their things. As the others did the same, they made a note in their padd to requisition the Lab’s security feed recordings of the first ritual in order to add them to the collection of data about it. As they’d had their eyes closed, they had seen nothing of any motions or expressions VahlJeahn had made in the course of performing it. Those needed to be preserved, both for the investigation and an expansion of the cultural profile of VahlJeahn’s people.
ValhJeahn: Is the Holodeck another laboratory?
Imril: It can be a laboratory. Or a recreation space. Or an interactive novel. Or almost anything else, depending on what’s programmed into the simulation. I’m currently working with someone on a holo-program that might help locate a missing star system.
Morgan/Richards/ VahlJeahn: Response
Imril: A good way to learn about holography is to see it in action. ::Tapping at their padd:: Holodeck 4 is presently open. I’ve just reserved it for our use.
Morgan/Richards/ VahlJeahn: Response
Imril nodded and rose up from their seat to get going.
((Holoeck 4, Deck 3 - USS Artemis-A ))
Imril had done a little more padd work during the walk to Deck 3. Filling out information and parameters to feed into the Holodeck when the party got there. They started the download as soon as they were in view of the Holodeck door. The transfer was finished by the time they all reached it.
Imril: I’ve fed all the technical data we have gathered on the New Hope into the holodeck, and what was already present in the Artemis’ databases on the topic of Boraxian ship design. ::to VahlJeahn:: With it, we can tell the Holodeck to simulate a meditation chamber matching your architectural formats. The control panels should work as you expect them too, and the lights as well. If anything’s not to your liking, you can modify it by asking. Just say ‘Computer’ before you give it any commands. Like this. ::To the Holodeck control panel:: Computer, give us an approximation of a meditation chamber as it might appear aboard the Yurum ship designated New Hope. At least large enough to accommodate four people, with a readily available control panel keyed to the room’s lighting.
It didn't take long for the Holodeck to answer.
Computer: Simulation ready.
Morgan/Richards/ VahlJeahn: Response
