(( Chief Operations Officer’s office, Deck 5, USS Artemis-A ))

Bergmen: Understood, sir. May I make notes?

Bergmen looked down at the PADD cradled in his hands.

Vel: If you must. ::he waved at the empty chair opposite his desk:: Feel free to sit.

Ollie grinned widely as he settled into the chair that had been offered to him.

Bergmen: So, sir, what makes an officer a good and decisive leader, in your opinion?

Once he turned his attention back to the commander, he propped the top edge of the PADD against the chair and started jotting down his notes with the stylus as Commander Vel spoke.

Vel: ::letting out a low breath:: Pfffft, well, I guess the first thing to cultivate as a senior officer is a gut feeling that you can trust. ::he slapped his somewhat corpulent belly:: Trust your gut, and you can’t go wrong.

Ollie nodded in agreement as the Commander spoke, punctuating his response with a contented grunt.

Bergmen: That sounds so reasonable as well as straightforward.

Bergmen finished writing the note he was taking and turned his gaze back to Vel.

Bergmen: What do you think, in your opinion, brings success while building motivation for teamwork in your subordinates?

Vel: Response

Ollie's stylus glided across the PADD screen. His eyes, wide with excitement, sparkled like stars as he focused intently on the vibrant thoughts shared and the deeper meanings he likely perceived within them.

Bergmen: What qualities are lacking among today’s leaders around you, sir?

Vel: Response

Bergmen: What are the most important traits to look for when choosing the team you will work with?

Vel: Response
