((CloQ’s realm))

CloQ had watched with pleasure as the trio of teams from the Artemis had made what the humans might call a “dog’s dinner” of their plans. They were furious when they saw that the Betazoid doctor had managed to escape back in time to Romulus and the formation of all the Q’s carefully concealed plans.

However, the good doctor seemed unaware of the effect that the Bajoran Emissary had had on history, and so had sought to carry out his own execution of the Romulan Senator like a bad little medical practitioner. And as the mopman’s blast hit the shuttle and the shuttle careened into the Romulan turret snuffing out the four Starfleeter’s lives in the tick of a clock, CloQ waved their hand lugubriously and pressed their clock badge pinned to their Starfleet uniform.

Time rewound by just a few milliseconds, and the Q entity plucked the Starfleeters out of the burning wreckage, alive and intact, and decided to jump back to the present.

Oho.

This was interesting.

By changing the timeline to kill the Senator themselves, rather than Sisko doing it in secret, the Betazoid and his merry men had supremely cocked up. Or rather CloQed up.

The Q let out a long, harsh laugh as they replaced their pieces on the board. It seemed that the Romulans weren’t for a second fooled by the Artisans’ framing of the Dominion, and thus the Federation-Romulan war was waged. Naturally the Federation won, only just managing to fend off the soldiers of both the Romulans and the Dominion. And then, in a moment of supreme confidence, the Betazoids had pulled their greatest coup, led by a young woman with knowledge of the future…

Tevet Elain had become Empress of the Betazoid Chalice, the most powerful force in the universe and one that sought to wipe out what remnants of the Federation remained.’

So where to place their pieces…

CloQ clicked their watch again, and two boards appeared in front of them.

Into the board shaped like the bridge of the USS Artemis, they placed the pieces shaped like the Betazoid doctor, the human Chevalier, the Yelkian engineer and the Bajoran/Vulcan hybrid.

The other board was shaped like the yard of a Betazed prison colony, and into the courtyard they placed the Captain, the Vulcan engineer, the Vulcan security officer and the Galdorian.

The remaining pieces they threw on the ground in front of them, the pieces scattering far apart until the grew to the life-sized officers they represented.

CloQ: Welcome to my world.

Dakora/Silveira/Sadar/Jovenan: Response

CloQ gestured to the walls, and floor, which were covered in clocks, timepieces and times from every planet, species and universe that the entity had ever visited. The slow, relentless ticketing was uniform and an undercurrent to every single moment of time spent in the microverse. And when CloQ spoke, it was perfectly timed so that each syllable fell on either side of a tick.

CloQ: How’d you like my little game?

Dakora/Silveira/Sadar/Jovenan: Response
