Grombria clearly felt a little guilty about pushing Jovenan to open up about the only other Edo that she’d encountered. It was an alternate universe version of herself, and the poor woman had sacrificed herself to save them. Grombria’s face was a picture of conciliatory grace.

Grombria: But still, it must be difficult to have it brought up. Watching anyone die is painful, but for it to be yourself, that’s impossible for me to imagine. You have my gratitude, Jovenan, for your service. ::suddenly remembering the good doctor:: You both do.

Jovenan smiled a little.

Adea: Thank you for saying so, Councillor.

Jovenan: Thank you. I value your appreciation.

The Councillor clapped his hands and walked to the replicator again.

Grombria: Now I think it’s your turn - ask me anything.

Genkos turned his face towards Jovenan, smiling and with both eyebrows raised. Here was her chance to find out whatever she wanted.

Jovenan: Do you know anything about the reactions at home about what happened here? How do the people take the news of the assimilation and the battle?

Grombria handed her a fresh drink, and his gaze lingered on her as he spoke.

Grombria: Fear. Fear mainly. Fear that this will happen again, and fear that it could happen to them.

Genkos inclined his head in acknowledgement.

Adea: Understandable.

Jovenan nodded, slowly.

Jovenan: And you? Politically… or personally.

Grombria: Politically, it has been a mess - Starfleet has a lot of questions to answer about what happened. ::he waved a hand:: Not you, obviously, higher up than you. ::a dark shadow flit across his face:: Much, much higher up. ::he brightened again:: Personally, I am relieved. Relieved that it was stopped, and relief that it wasn’t worse. ::he looked at Jovenan:: What about yourselves?

Genkos paused, to let Jovenan speak - he could see that she was knitting her eyebrows.

Jovenan: We see combat sometimes in our service, so it could have been different for us. ::looks at Adea:: But it has never been like this, not for me at least.

Genkos nodded, then tried to find something in his past to compare it with. The Skarbek missions had been horrendous but they hadn’t really been “real”. The violence on Meranuge IV had been horrific, but contained. This was, as the humans said, another kettle of fish.

Which begged the question “what was the kettle doing full of fish?”

Adea: I’ve seen more than my fair share of violence, death and destruction, but this… this was on another scale. I pray to the four that it doesn’t happen again.

Grombria: I think we all do.

Jovenan: Response

Grombria clapped his hands together enthusiastically, trying to change the tone or subject.

Grombria: Well now, we’ve been thoroughly depressed so let’s chat something else. Jovenan, what do you do for fun aboard the ARtemis?

Jovenan: Response

"You know, I'm really easy to get along with most of the time, but I don't like bullies and I don't like threats, and I don't like you, Culluh. You can try and stop us from getting to the truth but I promise you that if you do I will respond with all the 'unique technologies' at my command." - Kathryn Janeway
