(( USS Artemis-A, deck 1, Bridge ))
Bergmen: Ehm, the problem is not our side, sir. (beat) We are on hold.
Ollie shrugged and pointed to the dark viewscreen. The commander frowned at the lieutenant's explanation.
Silveira: Figures. Keep the channel open anyway.
Bergmen: ::nods:: Aye, sir. I muted us, in case they are still listening.
Imril: ::quietly:: Commander, Transporter Room One reports that they can’t get a lock on Jetripar. The Nascaik ship has erected its own inhibitor signal.
Silveira returned to the captain's chair.
Silveira: As expected. I would likely done the same if I was in their shoes.
Ollie glanced at the commander and nodded in understanding. Tried to smile a little, gave Silveira notice that it was not the commander’s fault. They couldn’t do anything. It just happened. Sometimes, things simply fail regardless of how correctly you tried to do them.
Imril: ::Quietly:: I had the Transporter room send me its scan of the signal for analysis. On the up-side, I can confirm that the virus has been completely expunged from the Artemis. I’ll start deleting my sim generators to clear up processing speed to work the new problem.
Vitor finally released the breath he had been holding in. With a long exhale, he turned around and settled into the Captain’s seat.
Bergmen: Sir, the chancellor’s kidnapping changed the parameters of this mission. We should regroup and contact the captains for new orders.
The commander took a moment to lean back, allowing his thoughts to settle before he spoke.
Silveira: Okay… Now that I fumbled Diplomacy 101 let’s see how we can amend that.
Helm hold us steady.
Lieutenant Imril keep trying to find Secretary Jetripar but your priority is to clean up the sims from the system. I want the Artemis back in it’s pre-virus condition as quickly as possible.
Lieutenant Bergmen get me a lock on the Afalqi, try and find the away teams positions.
Bergmen nodded and turned back to his console.
Bergmen: Aye, sir.
And as ordered, he started working on the solution.
Imril: Response
Silveira: When possible I want a lock on the Afalqi and I want to close in to transporter range.
Ollie nodded and sent the sensor data to the commander.
Bergmen: Starfleet combadges registered on deck 7. Multiple life signatures confirmed. Afalqi engine emissions are skewing our readings, making it more difficult to identify who is who there. Trying to compensate.
Imril: Response
Silveira: And keep a channel open for the Nascaik. I want them to know what we are intending on doing.
Multitasking was something expected from any Starfleet officer. Prioritization too. And getting information about their people seemed more important in the moment than calming someone who has shown no interest in communicating.
Bergmen: The channel is still open if Nascaik wants to talk.
Imril: Response
Bergmen's hands danced deftly over the console, his brow furrowed in intense concentration.
Bergmen: Sir, I have four, possibly five, individual life signs where we registered Starfleet combadges. Give me a minute, and I will be able to separate them enough for transport if needed.
Silvera/Imril: Response
Suddenly, Ollie stopped working and gazed intently at the viewscreen, which continued to showcase the Nascaik coat of arms in a slow rotation.
Bergmen: Sir, Nascaik… (beat) They launched two shuttles on a direct intercept course toward us… or Afalqi.
The Coat of Arms stopped, the picture flickered, and once again, the familiar face appeared on the screen.
Silvera/Imril: Response
