(( Conference Room – Deck 121, Deep Space 224 ))
She took a deep breath in through her nose before exhaling.
MacKenzie: Those of you who have been around for any length of time know
that I’m no fan of officers who needlessly throw themselves into dangerous
situations or try to be a hero… ::clearing her throat, along with some side-eye::
That said, there is a member among us who not only discovered the bioweapon
used, but also offered up his own body as a test subject after discovering a
way to incapacitate the locals… Doctor Bancroft, I hereby award you the Medical
Science Ribbon.
Bancroft: Response (if desired)
MacKenzie: For our harrowing experience battling the drones on the front
lines, Commander Jovenan, Lieutenant Bergmen and I have been awarded the Starfleet
Medal of Commendation…
Jovenan/Bergmen: Responses (if desired)
MacKenzie: And, not only for their survival after the Kobyar lab was
attacked, but for their quick thinking in securing the evidence and seeing to
their safety, I am pleased to award the Good Conduct Ribbon to Lieutenant Silveira,
Ensign Imril, and Samantha Richards.
She nodded to the trio. Their escape was not guaranteed and likely only the
result of quick thinking. As Munro handed them each their boxes, she was
thankful that they hadn’t tried their luck any closer.
Silveira/Imril/Richards: Response
MacKenzie: And, for our cumulative actions on this mission, Starfleet
has awarded everyone both the Peacekeeper Service Ribbon, and the Orion
Syndicate Service Medal.
Any: Response
Her gaze once again cast around the room.
MacKenzie: There remain two more items of business… Ensign Imril, please
join me here.
She waited for the dark-haired Bactrican to come to the front.
MacKenzie: Ensign, you’ve been a member of the Artemis crew for
nearly a year now. In your time with us, I’ve been very pleased by your
progress, not only as a contributing member of the engineering department, but
as someone that other junior officers have come to look up to. It seems on our
last two missions in particular, you’ve really found your footing here. Ensign,
I hereby promote you to the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade. Congratulations.
She picked up the last remaining wooden box and removed a hollow pip. With the
slightest smile, she faced Imril and placed the pip on their uniform.
Imril/Any: Response
MacKenzie offered one more singular nod, dismissing Imril and sending them back
to their seat as she turned to face the crew once more.
MacKenzie: Several of you may have noticed that Mr. Silveira has an
extra half pip on his collar. I’m delighted to share that he has earned the
rank of Lieutenant Commander, with all the rights and privileges therein. His service
to this ship, his growth as an officer, and his growth as a person are
something to which we all owe a great deal. And, it was a long time coming. ::nodding::
Congratulations, Commander.
Silveira/any: Responses
MacKenzie: I have one other announcement before we all get back to the party…
Starfleet Command has temporarily reassigned me to work on a special project at
Starfleet Medical. As a result, Lieutenant Commander Munro will be in command
of the Artemis until I return. I expect that you will follow her orders
exactly as you’d follow mine. Do not let me hear anything to the contrary.
She offered a conciliatory smile and bowed slightly, before raising her head
again.
MacKenzie: Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve delayed my departure as long
as I can. I’m afraid if I don’t leave now, Starfleet might give the Artemis
to Commander Munro permanently. (beat) Enjoy the party.
She tapped the lectern slightly before making a beeline for the door.
(OOC: Feel free to take time to converse with each other, especially if there’s someone you haven’t had a chance to write much with this shore leave. We’ll have about one week left and endeavor to kick off our next mission by the beginning of September!)
