((Operations Center, Deck 5 - USS Artemis))
After what had been a fairly monotonous meeting with the fellow Junior Grade Lieutenant, Charlotte watched as his face changed from mid-level-annoyance to mild level annoyance as he spoke again about an Engineering officer.
Bergmen: Ah… look, Lieutenant Imril improved this shore leave Engineering general stats up to two points. Good of him.
She watched Bergman's face light up and almost crack a smile.
Brexis: Imril… ::Beat, then tapping her commbadge:: =/\= Lieutenant Brexis to Lieutenant Imril.=/\=
Charlotte gave Bergmen a half smile as he radiated a very sudden sense of betrayal.
Imril: =/\= Imril here. A moment, please. =/\=
The silence settled while she waited.
Imril: =/\= Sorry for the wait,Lieutenant. What can I do for you? =/\=
Brexis: =/\= If you are available would you mind joining Lieutenant Bergmen and I in the Operations Center? I have a couple questions. =/\=
Maybe Imril was the key to making the interaction a little less…whatever it was. To be fair to Ollie, she knew the content was inherently boring to go over, but being sassy to her for doing her job was a bit of a hindrance.
Imril: =/\= Bergmen, Sir? ::beat:: I mean, aye, Sir. On my way. =/\=
Brexis: =/\= Got it, thanks.=/\= ::Turning to Bergmen:: If he can join us and tell me about his points going up that’ll help give me some insight there too.
She sat back in her chair and continued to run her eyes over the holo-screen while they waited for Imril to make their appearance. Even someone who wasn’t a Betazoid may have felt the obvious unease in Bergman's posture and tone. Something was up between the two. But that wasn’t Charlotte's problem.
Imril: ::To Bergmen:: Uh… hi.
Bergmen: Lieutenant… ehm, welcome to deck 5.
Her eyebrow raised curiously as she looked between the two of them. Awkward didn’t even begin to cover it. Again, not her problem.
Imril: ::To Brexis:: Lt. Imril, Engineering. Reporting as requested.
Brexis: Thanks for joining us. ::Holding out her hand:: Lieutenant Brexis. Strategic Operations.
Introductions were done and Imril turned to the holodisplay, which Ollie hadn’t taken his eyes off of.
Imril: ::Pointing to the hologram:: Can I ask what’s on the display?
Bergmen: Lieutenant Brexis here, from her role as StratOps Officer, requested to review reports on the ship readiness. Supplies, maintenance records, crew training, and so on. I tried to answer some of their questions on the topic of maintenance, but she felt it would be better for an engineer to explain the details on the various works done by the Engineering department.
Charlotte held up her hand and waved it around a bit.
Brexis: I was really interested in something Bergmen said about your Engineering general stats. I don’t know much about it, but I’d like to hear more about how you achieved that. Since you are here, some thoughts from Engineering are extremely valuable too.
Imril: And how might I be of help?
As soon as she opened her mouth, Bergmen spoke up just a bit quicker than her.
Bergmen: Mrs. Brexis? It’s your review, so ask.
Brexis: ::To Ollie, correcting him gently:: Please, Lieutenant Brexis. ::Turning to Imril:: I would like to hear about what you did to improve your stats. Just general work? Or have you been working on something specific?
Bergmen jumped in with an attempt at helpfulness.
Bergmen: ::not glancing at Imril:: If you need to retrieve any supporting documentation, Lieutenant, just let me know.
Imril: Response
Brexis: Right… ::looking back down at the PADD:: Well, how do you feel about the Engineering Dept. as a whole, when it comes to the ship's readiness for emergencies?
She looked up from the PADD in her lap and made a valiant effort to keep her expression neutral.
Bergmen: ::still not glancing at Imril:: That should be all on this, right, Mr. Imril? Anything else, Mrs. Brexis?
Charlotte sat back a bit. Was he trying to find his out in the conversation? Maybe bringing Imril in was against her better judgement. How was she supposed to know that the two of them had some strange dynamic she had to navigate around?
Brexis: I’d like to hear the rest of what Lieutenant Imril has to say, but if you are needed elsewhere, feel free. I do appreciate your time. ::Beat, then a firm reminder:: And please, It’s Lieutenant.
She turned her full attention back to Imril and gave him a smile.
Brexis: Please. Continue.
Imril: Response
Bergmen: Response?
Charlotte listened to Imril. Nodding when it felt appropriate.
Brexis: Do you mind if I get that information sent to me so I can go over it more later?
Imril: Response
Bergmen: Response?
The awkwardness had reached critical mass. She stood up, smoothed out her uniform and gave the two of them a smile and a nod.
Brexis: Thanks to both of you, for your time. If I need anything else I will let you know.
Imril: Response
Bergmen: Response?
With that, Charlotte headed for the exit.
Tag/ End for Brexis!
((OOC: I was hoping to be able to do more with this scene but since we are nearing our next mission I figured this was a good spot to end! Thanks both of you!))
