((OOC - I had some free time and thought it might be interesting to see how the rest of the ship is reacting to the events))
((Sensor Pod Operations Facilities - Artemis))
Vailani floated above the panel, adjusting her body so that it spun just in the right angle. She had been trained in Zero-G since she was 9 years old. In the commotion earlier her pin had come loose and floated off leaving her mahogany coloured hair to float around her face annoyingly.
It wasn't the only thing annoying her. She had been sent to the sensor pods Operations Facilities to ensure the reports were being relayed accurately to the bridge.
oO I should be on the bridge Oo
The bridge crew had done a remarkably good job at screwing everything up. The communications array was down, among other things, and she'd been spending the better part of an hour floating here realigning the damaged circuits that the technicians were repairing.
The good news was that the subspace transmission barrage from the Berlin had stopped. The bad news was that they may or may not have intruders onboard.
oO there it is Oo
She had painstakingly went through each of the systems that they'd repaired looking for the anomalies that could have caused the arrays to cease working altogether. Now she had finally found the root.
She turned to Ensign Gazki, the Xindi Insectoid Engineering Officer who had arrived a short while ago to help the team of operations officers complete repairs.
Vailani: I found it. :: Pointing to the panel :: Right here. That's where the break originated. Looks like there was an uncontrolled power surge that caused a cascade failure. The team repaired power to that sector but it's going to need reprogramming to complete the connection to the power relays.
Gazki: :: moved their hands and antennae :: I'll report to Ensign Vedic -
Vailani: Vedic? :: rolls her eyes :: Prophet's no. I'll go down and reprogramme it myself. He couldn't even repair a malfunctioning holodeck programme.
((OOC - how dare she!))
Gazki made a few clicks that indicated oO not my problem Oo before busying themselves elsewhere.
Vailani floated over to the storage compartment to the back of the room and grabbed a kit from one of the shelves.
((A short while later - Deck 8 - Artemis))
Vailani stopped off enroute to collect an EV suit, which she retrofitted, removing the mask and air supply. She strapped the oxygen pack on to her back and fixed the mask across her face. She could feel the weird synthetic oxygen enter her lungs. Odd how it tasted different from the ship's air, technically they were both artificial.
The ship was running at security condition four, so she had holstered a phaser to her side. She performed a scan with her tricorder before entering this section. No bad guys here.
oO it's only a power surge Zoy Oo
Vailani found the relevant section, removing the wall panel. It floated upwards towards the ceiling, spinning as it went. Instinctively, she tried to grab it but then stopped herself, realising she had nowhere to secure it.
Vailani: Now where are - :: that's not right :: What?!
There was a device attached to the conduit. A red proximity light blinked. Vailani quickly rolled to the side, exactly how her father had shown her many times before. Tuck and roll, spinning in the air quickly. Followed by a loud eruption form the conduit, she felt the blast against her back, throwing her forward and a sharp, hot pain in her back. She cried out, her arm reaching back. Blood.
oO I can still move that's a good sign, I think Oo
If it hadn't been for the Zero-G she'd have never gotten away from the blast in time.
The device had exploded, destroying the entire circuitry. Flames roared from the wall, and spread upwards, the smoke blackened the ceiling.
Vailani got to her feet, a pain stabbing her in the back as she did so, she could feel the piece of strapnel lodged in the lower back.
The emergency systems that would normally have drowned out the fire did not activate.
Vailani: =/\= Ensign Vailani to Captain Mackenzie =/\=
There was no response.
oO for prophet's sake Oo
Vailani floated across the corridor. A warning sound emanated from the oxygen tank.
oO no Oo
She made her way to an access hatch, throwing it open and ignoring the pain. Vailani knew that she needed to get to sickbay, if she lost consciousness she would bleed out.
In the Jeffries tube she pulled herself along, again, much faster than she would have done in normal gravity.
Then upwards to deck 7. She pulled herself across the tunnel. She knew there was an access panel that would lead directly to sickbay.
The tunnel split into two suddenly, and began to spin. She was losing blood. She could feel it running down her legs now. She shook her head and forced herself to focus and continued pulling herself along, much slower than before.
oO I'm not dying like this Oo
There it was. The access panel. She attempted to pull it open. Locked. She didn't have time or the energy to go through the unlock protocols. The oxygen tank began to beep in rapid succession, the oxygen was just about depleted.
Vailani: Please. Prophets, if you're listening, not like this.
As she lost consciousness she thrust her body forward colliding against the panel, hoping that someone inside would hear it.
oO hope Oo
