They had revealed the change in their relationship to Sada. And their friend had now suggested something that, to him, felt like a huge honor.
And was likely a way for Sada to show she was pleased with hearing the news.

Sadar: O-Oh, it’s, uhh... I-It’s... W-Well... ::deep breath:: O-On Mizabet, when a close friend intends to start a coupling, it is the duty of their friends and family to perform a, uhh... Well, it’s essentially a, uhh, compatibility evaluation? ::raises her hands:: O-O-Of course, I-I don’t mean to infer in any way that you aren’t compatible, b-but I felt that, uhh... W-Well... ::clears throat::

Vitor arched an eyebrow. At first that sounded a little… And more…
But Sada was their friend, she certainly wouldn’t be suggesting something that he and Nan would be uncomfortable with.

Silveira: I hope that’s a poor translation. ::He looked puzzled at Nan:: I mean… It's a sort of ritual? Or a party?

Jovenan: What does it entail?

Vitor leaned forward, still holding Nan’s hand. It felt good to hold her hand, feeling her warmth, even if his attention was in Sada as she spoke.

Sadar: Hmm... A ritual is probably the best way to put it, yes? E-Effectively, it allows friends and family of one party to, uhh, assure that the match will be beneficial and in the best interest of the involved parties. ::scoots uncomfortably:: M-Mizarians very rarely become couples out of, uhh, affection, so it will perhaps seem a tad, uhh... ‘Sterile’ to you, b-but I... I-I would like to share this with you? I-If you’ll permit me.

Silveira: Interesting, I would feel very honored by that Sada.

Nan nodded subtly as she ate.
Still holding Nan’s hand he looked at her. He shared his opinion, but this would have to be a decision made by the two of them.

Silveira: What do you think, my love?

Nan blushed. Smiling, almost bashfully, she shrugged.

Jovenan: Okay. Sure! Is there something we should do or say?

Sadar: W-Well, i-it’s essentially a conversation, so just, uhh... R-Respond as honestly and genuinely as you please.

He nodded and smiled. He was getting curious over this.
But he was feeling confident. His girlfriend, his love was in front of him.
And his friend would be leading the conversation.

Nothing to worry about. He smiled at Sada as he replied to her.

Silveira: You know I often do, I am like an open book. ::He turned to Nan, winking at her.:: And you are the page I love to write about.

Nan reached over the table and took his other hand. She looked up to his eyes and he lost himself in hers. Letting the emerald glow of them to be like a beacon.

Jovenan: Did I already say that you look charming in that suit?

He felt his cheeks getting warmer and he tipped his head to the side. Nan was able to bring up the better in him, and he gently squeezed her hands in his.

Silveira: You did, thank you. As do you my love

He smiled, losing himself in her eyes again. Thankfully his girlfriend, his love was able to keep her mind and bring them back to reality.
After all, Sada was so kind to honor them this way.

Jovenan: Apologies, Doctor. Please begin.

Vitor turned to Sada, offering her a warm smile, but still holding Nan’s hands.

Sadar: Y-Yes Sir! ::clears throat:: Today, the colloquy to establish the successful union of Lieutenant Commander Jovenan of the Science Department of the USS Artemis-A and Lieutenant Vitor Silveira of the Tactical Department of the USS Artemis-A will be observed. I sit here today as a friend of Vitor Silveira, and a loyal subordinate ::uncomfortable clearing of throat:: a-a-and... F-Friend, of Lieutenant Commander Jovenan.

Vitor was surprised by the formality of Sada’s words. It felt so… Formal…
Redundancy aside, Sada’s first words were so serious that he wondered how Nan would react. He knew that they were still on the honeymoon stage of their relationship.
They just started dating.
The troubles would come as their relationship grew.

Still he felt energised, as he gently rubbed Nan’s hands with his fingers. He loved her, more than anything. And she loved him back.

Together they could face… Anything.

Silveira: I am honored to have you, Gila Sadar, as a friend.

Jovenan: Response?

He waited for Sada to speak again, and she addressed him.

Sadar: Sil-net, in the truest words in your heart, what do you hope for from the future?

Vitor replied quickly, almost in the next second that Sada finished her question.

Silveira: I hope to be able to protect, help and love Jovenan.

Sada had asked him to be genuine and honest and he was. He let his heart speak and didn't  think too much over it.

Sadar: Do you believe that the coupling with Lieutenant Commander Jovenan will be conducive to bringing you happiness and satisfaction of your goals?

Silveira: Yes I do

Again he replied quickly, with a smile, as the portuguese expression goes, “from ear to ear”.
That actually surprised him because his reply would sound more appropriate to a wedding than a… Friendly ritual…
It felt… Good. Scaringly good. They had barely started dating, it was really early for them to commit to something so… Serious, so formal.

But it felt so right, so good. It was as if the stars were aligning.

Sada turned her attention to Nan, before speaking again.

Sadar: Lieutenant Commander, you have heard the truest words of Sil-net, a friend of mine whom I hold very dear. Assure me, p-please, with no uncertainty or cloud, that it is your intent to honor and defend his goals, as though they were your own.

Jovenan: Response

Vitor held Nan's hands tightly, as he looked at her. He wasn’t taking Nan or her love for granted, but her reply showered him with a wave of love and happiness that he wasn’t expecting. He wanted to stand up and hold her, take her in his arms, but he also wanted to respect his friend's tradition.

Silveira: That’s… Is there more my friend?

Sadar: Response

Vitor nodded and smiled looking at Nan.

Silveira: Well, I am going to take a risk and say we are a good match… What do you think Sada?

Sadar: Response

Jovenan: Response

He smiled and wink at them. Gently squeezed Nan’s hands, before letting them go and standing up.

Silveira: Then my friend, since we are in your quarters, will allow me a display of affection and let me kiss my girlfriend. ::He looked at Nan’s sparkling eyes.:: My love?

Sadar: Response

Jovenan: Response
