to USS Artemis-A – StarBase 118 Star Trek PBEM RPG
(( Engineering, New Hope ))
He let the others as he received the call from the Artemis.
Vitor nodded even knowing that Alex and Commander Munro couldn’t see him.
Silveira: =/\= Well, with the help of one of our DOTs are repairing the Theta radiation leak. It’s something to do with their accelerators, or generators. Once he isn’t busy I can have Ensign Tho’Bi sending you the details. We also recovered the damaged parts and are analysing it.
There are signs of a potential sabotage. Also, Ensign Cole found out some of the lighting system interferes with our physiology.
Storm: =/\= Really? That’s … significant=/\=
Munro: =/\= Yes :: beat :: The Yurum are particularly sensitive to touch telepathy as well. Or at least Lt Storm was =/\=
Vitor shook his head, aside from the sabotage and he was inclined to believe in Cole’s theory that it was likely meant to leave a trail instead of damage. The other issue was just one of those First Contact flukes.
Silveira: =/\= It affects us differently than it does the Boraxians. There are some side effects but I don’t think it's dangerous unless we spend an abnormal amount of time here.
I asked Ensign Cole to collect her findings and send it back.
I suggest informing the other away team.
Munro: =/\= Noted. Do you have any idea who may have sabotaged the ship and why? =/\=
Storm: =/\= It might help us as we prepare for the likelihood of a city ship descending on us. =/\=
Vitor tipped his head sideways and rubbed his neck.
Silveira: =/\= My gut feeling says that Ensign Cole has the right theory about that. I believe the damage, if deliberate, was meant to make New Hope traceable or at least easily detected.
Munro: =/\= I was hoping for some good news. Commander please continue with those repairs and return to the Artemis as soon as they are complete. =/\=
Storm: =/\= Time to start assuming this city ship will show up sooner rather than later.=/\=
Vitor rubbed his eyes. The headache was getting worse, but he had a feeling it was also due to the stress. For his first team lead after his promotion it could have gone better.
Silveira: =/\= Understood Captain. Silveira out.=/\=
He walked slowly back to the others and Tho’Bi was waiting for him.
Tho'Bi: ::to Silveira:: Sir, the DOT has completed the repair work of the transceiver and has returned to Artemis. ::nods in direction of the subchamber below warp core:: We need only now purge the Warp Core Waste Storage Tanks ::beat:: and the Theta-Band Radiation problem should be resolved.
Dariell: And we are glad for your help, and giving the praise to your Engineer, Tho’Bi.
Vitor smiled at Dariell and nodded to Tho’Bi.
Silveira: Good, let’s proceed, we are to return as soon as we are finished with the repairs. ::He turned to Cole and pointed to the wreckage parts that Tho’Bi had beamed aboard:: Ensing Cole, scan what you can of these.
Cole: Response
Tho'Bi: ::holding up Tricorder:: The damaged Accelerator Generators show signs of harmonic detuning and phase inversion. ::beat:: This caused the Theta-Band Radiation to leak back into the supply line.
Silveira: And have you found out how that happened?
Cole: Response
Tho'Bi: A combination of quench footprints and dielectric carbonization indicates a build up of Theta-band Radiation four times that of normal. ::beat:: in simple terms, the system was overloaded ::beat:: either through technical error, accident, or sabotage.
Vitor nodded.
Silveira: Okay… What’s the next step?
Cole: Response
Tho'Bi: ::to Silveira:: I recommend we purge the Warp Core Waste Storage Tanks immediately.
Dariell: Yes, as your engineer said, sooner we purge them, sooner things become better.
Vitor nodded and turned to Tho’Bi.
Silveira: Let’s get to it then.
Cole: Response
Dariell smiled and pointed to the door from the Engineering.
Dariell: Thank you for your continuous help, Lieutenant Commander. We can move and finish the repair in the subchamber.
Vitor shrugged. There was always something. He turned to Tho’Bi.
Silveira: Let’s do this quickly, I want us back on the Artemis as fast as we can.
Tho’Bi/Cole: Response
Vitor tipped his head for the team to move, staying slightly behind himself.
oO I just hope this doesn’t take long… Oo
