((Artemis-A Deck Two, Holodeck 2))

The Artemis' holodecks weren't exactly a priority among all of the repairs which were needed in the wake of the battle with the Orions. Only after the ship had docked at DS224 did they get any real attention. But now, with one or two of them cleared for use, Imril had been able to reschedule a much-anticipated appointment. They arrived with time to spare, which was all well and good. They had an idea to tinker with first.

Imril: Computer, give me a simulation of Deep Space 224 Ops. Unoccupied, no ships. Make sure the starscape outside is an accurate one. Patch into Astrometrics for an update if need be.

There was a small wait while the computer imported the required data. The holodeck opened up to a view of the requested station's command center. Imril stepped inside and let the door close behind them. Outside, in the corridor, the room's command screen blinked an invite to Lt. Gnai. Inside, the holodeck door took on the visage of the CO's office door.

Imril: Remove all parts of the station but the floor of Ops and enough of its outer walls to make a 'railing'.

The station's walls disappeared. As did everything of the levels below and any above. Leaving the ensign on a floating disc in the middle of a sea of stars.

Imril tapped their padd, transfering even more data to the simulation.

Imril: Highlight the following stars by quadrupling their brightness and adding an optical halo to each. Run a stellar navigation path marker through them in the given order.

The computer clicked and the light show started. First, Bactrica's star became brighter and took on a notable degree of what in other media might be called lens-flare. It was a necessary starting point if Imril wanted this project to be accurate. From there, a beam of white raced to B'hava'el, Bajor's sun. From Imril's adoptive home, the line repeated all the puddle-jumps they had taken on their path to Earth and Starfleet Academy. Each time one of Imril's targeted stars was reached, they took on the optical effects, the severity modified by distance. From Sol, the line marched out a jagged path that led ultimately to Starbase 118. Finally, all the stars and stellar phenomena that they had come to since joining the Artemis crew, the line arcing along the Borderlands with occasional dips into the Alpha Quadrant. The path ended right beside Deep Space 224, at the nearby neutron star Klatax. Which was highlighted by a much larger ring than all the others. And very, very much brighter than it needed to be!

Imril. Yyaah! :Shielding their eyes:: Remove Klatax brightness adjustment! Remove-- Ah. Better. Thank you.

They took a moment to look over the course they had plotted across the Quadrants. All in all, it was rather pretty. And, better yet, it was only going to get bigger from here.

Imril: ::satisfied:: Save program as Imril-Star-Journal-One, and tag today's stardate to it.

Before they could tell the computer to return the holodeck to its standard configuration, the office/holodeck door opened anew. Lt. Gnai, in exosuit, was standing outside of it.

Gnai: Response

Imril: Hello, Lieutenant. Come on in.

Gnai: Response

Imril: Oh, this? It's just an attempt to visualize my own travels through the galaxy.

Gnai: Response
