((Brew Continuum, Deck 3, USS Artemis))

As the two sat in the cafe and sipped on their drinks, Sam was grateful for Jovenan taking the time to talk with her about the horrifying day they met.

Jovenan: And what happened to you and the others once we parted ways? You must have been on the Kitty Hawk, right?

S. Richards: Yeah, that’s where I was when the signal went out… A lot of us were assimilated. A lot of bad stuff happened after that. I uh, hope you don’t mind if I ask. Were you… affected by the signal?

It wasn’t a question she was sure if it was okay to ask, but considering what they went through, maybe they could commiserate together more than they already did.

Jovenan: No, I wasn’t assimilated at any point.

S. Richards: I’m really glad you didn’t have to go through that, ::picking at a pastry and popping a small piece in her mouth:: but don’t let that discredit what you did go through. That day was hell for everyone.

Jovenan sipped her tea, seemingly trying to work through a response. Sam wasn’t interested in anyone feeling sorry for her for what she went through. There was a fine line between educating them and making them uncomfortable, in that instance, she wasn’t interested in either, but more-so just connecting with someone who meant something to her from that day.

Jovenan: It was, but you shouldn’t feel sorry to say that. I don’t know what all happened to you out there, but the fact that you’re still here tells me that you did good.

Continuing to pick at the pastry, Sam looked up at Jovenan, who was giving Sam a smile.

S. Richards: Despite everything we all went through. I think I made some really good friends along the way… A small silver lining I guess.

Jovenan: Something good in everything::sips tea, then chuckle:: Now I feel bad for not keeping in touch with you all!

Sam let out a breathy laugh before finally taking a bite of the pastry instead of continuing to pick at it.

S. Richards: No need to feel bad, not everyone has my affinity for crossing the galaxy just to say “thank you” to a handful of people. It’s a part of my odd human charm I guess.

Jovenan: Would you mind relaying my thanks to everyone once you return to Amity? The people in our team on the Cube, at least, as well as the couple of officers who stayed with us on the Artemis, Commander Hopper and Lieutenant Ric… hards?

Smirking and shaking her head, Sam wasn’t surprised that Nathan came up in so many of her conversations with others. She noticed Jovenan giving her a look as she must have made the connection between the last names.

S. Richards: I will pass along the thanks to them for you. Lieutenant Richards is an easy one, since he’s my brother. ::chuckling:: Commander Hopper is his girlfriend and my boss, so relaying the message will be an easy one.

Jovenan: Oh. Well, I assume you’ve already talked with Captain MacKenzie, but if there’s still time on your thank-you tour, you may want to visit Commander Dakora and Doctor Adea as well. They helped him and Hopper a lot, and vice versa. Or have you met them?

As soon as Talos’ name was mentioned Sam felt her cheeks go red. She lifted her drink and took a long sip, hoping her blushing wasn’t too obvious.

S. Richards: ::Setting her drink back down:: I met with the Captain as soon as I arrived. I haven’t had much of a chance to talk with Doctor Adea, but I do hope I can at least pass along a thanks for keeping my boss alive. ::shifting her gaze and trying to find the right words:: Talos- I mean, Commander Dakora, we uh… We met a while after Frontier Day. We are kind of… seeing each other?

Sam searched the Edo’s face for some type of understanding. While she and Talos hadn’t necessarily defined their relationship, they had agreed they were in this together. She hoped that maybe it would be less of a shock to people when they found out the two were soon to be parents if the word was out they were at least something

Jovenan: Response

S. Richards: It’s still all pretty new and we haven’t really worked out the details, but I am pretty fond of him. Without speaking too much on your First Officer’s behalf… I’m inclined to believe he likes me too.

All things considered, Sam really did feel like he cared about her. He had made that obvious even before they found out about their two-in-one surprise.

She resisted the urge to put her hand on her stomach- which had quickly become a habit-  for fear it would make it obvious there was more to the story.

Jovenan: Response

S. Richards: ::Smiling:: He is pretty great. A bit of a goof too, but I find that to be one of his more endearing qualities.
