((Karnack Engineering - Deck 4 - USS Karnack))

After finding the Karnack and the rest of the crew from the Artemis things felt inherently better. Still not completely great because they were still stranded on the gods awful planet. But the crew was there. They were whole. It was a win that they all needed.

MacKenzie: A semi-functioning warp core is a good place to start. What should we prioritize first?

Munro: Getting the shield emitters to mimic the properties of Faraday Cage long enough to get us out of the system is going to be no mean feat. Especially since we have no operational systems. But I think we can do it - if we can figure out a way to replicate the Faraday Cage effectively. Brexis, Bergmen, Breys, we’ll need your help getting this set up.

Brexis: ::Nodding.:: I’ll do what I can.

Breys/Bergmen: Response

Charlotte stood there, taking in the faces of her fellow crew members. All of them looked particularly worn and tired. She felt it too.

MacKenzie: Even if we did get it set up, we need other functional systems to actually make us space-faring.

Munro: That’s true. Even if the shield emitters work, we won’t get far with the Karnack in this state.

Jovenan: Force fields and inner bulkheads can keep some of the pressure in, but we should try to close some of the breaches. The less we have to rely on force fields, the more we can use power in other systems. And the less we have to fear about them failing.

She shifted back and forth between her left and right foot. She felt strange. After only having been a part of the crew for such a short while left her feeling like somewhat of an outsider.

Silveira: I concur

Munro: Agreed. Bring Storm and Bancroft with you, and get those holes fixed. But be careful, the Things are still out here, and as it gets dark, they’ll get more daring.

MacKenzie: Some of the upper decks should provide relative security from the creatures - I haven’t seen them climb yet.

Charlotte realized she had been staring between Roy and Natasha. Her people. Her friends.

K’Wara: We won’t get very far with Main Engineering in this state, either, Sirs. While the warp core is stable, it’s hardly safe for use at the moment.

Munro: In its current state the warp core power distribution would likely cause a cascade failure. We’re more likely to blow up the ship and this corner of the planet than get off this planet. Tamil, work with Imril to find a workaround, I don’t think I need to tell you how important it is :: pauses :: Cole and Jaran, you’re temporarily reassigned as technicians ::smiles:: Congratulations.

Cole: ::nodded:: Grandpa Dorian, would be so proud.

Jaran: Response

Charlotte now stood with Tamio, Roy and Natasha. Nat and Roy exchanged a particularly one sided looking hug.

Bancroft: Response

Cole: I’m … ::pause:: Yeah. Just… tired.

Bancroft: Response

Tired was one word for it.

K’Wara: I’m glad to see you’re both alright. ::smiles:: Despite the circumstances.

Cole: We had our challenges ::glances to Charlotte:: but we managed.

Brexis: Managed… Yeah. We did something that’s for sure. And we will keep managing as long as we have to.

Everyone was ready to get the hell away from that planet, there was no doubt about that.

K’Wara: I’ll hold you to that. I’m not quite ready to put down roots here yet. ::slight grin: Too drab.

Cole: I’ve had my fill of this unsettling place.

Brexis: Ain’t that the damn truth…

Nat went to reach for Charlotte but stopped herself.

Cole: ::to Charlotte:: … Be careful.

Charlotte gave her a firm nod as the groups began to split off.

((Computer Core Upper Level - Deck 5 - USS Karnack))

Unfortunately Charlotte wasn’t too familiar with the Sabre-class ship, but thankfully Starfleet liked to keep things fairly similar across the board when it came to the components.

Munro: I think we need to establish how we can insulate key systems from the Maelstrom. Propulsion and shields should be the priority. And connect systems to the warp core.

MacKenzie: Agreed. Shields, propulsion, structural integrity and life support… not necessarily in that order.

Brexis: I will help however I can.

Bergmen/Breys: Response

Outside, the shrieks of the dark things echoed against Charlotte's skull. She held her eyes tight and tried to shake off the intense feelings assaulting her senses.

Munro: Let’s make it quick. That sounds closer than I’d like.

MacKenzie: Think they can get through duranium?

Charlotte made a face.

Brexis: Let’s hope we don’t have to find out. ::wincing:: They are too close. ::gesturing:: Let's get this done.

Munro/Bergmen/Breys: Response

The captain nodded and walked towards the core.

MacKenzie: Right. Someone give me a hand with this.

Charlotte stepped up closer.

Brexis: Where do we even start?

Munro/Bergmen/Breys: Response

MacKenzie: Is there any way to get more power from the warp core to actually get this thing up and running without frying it? We cook this computer and we’re all toast…

Brexis: Can we get power from non-essential systems and re-route them here?

She was the furthest thing away from an engineer. But she had enough basic knowledge to be somewhat helpful.

Munro/Bergmen/Breys/MacKenzie: Response

Brexis: Do you think there are stored batteries somewhere? Or possibly a redundant fusion generator?

She turned to the others to see what they thought.

Munro/Bergmen/Breys/MacKenzie: Response

Brexis: We can do this. We have to. I think I can speak for all of us when I say we are ready to get the hells of this planet.

Munro/Bergmen/Breys/MacKenzie: Response

TAG/TBC!
