Commander Adea had not let Gnai's poor attempt at getting out of this check-up slide, and he had been right... Who knew what sort of impact time travel (and other assorted Q nonsense) had on the body? Not to mention the stress of the mission, sending Gnai all aswirl as it was unceremoniously dropped into situations that it was not prepared for alongside strangers that it had to make quick friends with. It had one more question up its... sleeve, to use the human phrase.

Gnai: Will you need guidance on Galadoran physiology, sir? Presumably that isn't standard knowledge...

Cmdr. Adea picked up a PADD from his desk and wiggled it at the Galadoran. It wasn't certain what to make of the gesture at first.

Adea: Not at all - I've been reading up on your species. I'm not the best at mechanical / technical stuff however, so whatever we find today, I recommend you ask a medical engineer to give your suit the once over.

Gnai was immensely relieved that it didn't need to start from scratch once again. A good deal of the worry over this whole check-up did start to ebb away. He had made a good point as well, one that Gnai had already been thinking. Of course, it had been planning to hunt down Lt. Cmdr. Salkath and take him up on his offer from prison... Checking in with a medical engineer would certainly be a good idea as well, it hadn't realized that there were any on the ship.

Gnai: Thank you, sir! Once this is over, a medical engineer will be sought out.

oO Somehow. Perhaps the commander might recommend someone after. Or commander Salkath could... Oo

Cmdr. Adea smiled at Gnai. A much kinder smile than the one that the prison overseer had worn. Much less like he wanted to bite Gnai, and more like he was genuinely trying to help.

Adea: So… before we get started - any complaints, anything I should be aware of? And if you prefer to do this telepathically, I am happy for us to read each other.

Ah yes, he must have been one of the various humanoids that could speak telepathically, that also ended up looking almost exactly like the rest of them. The offer was appreciated; telepathic communication was easier, less need to get the nuance of words right all the time. And harder to overhear, if anyone was walking by. It didn't want the contents of its medical file to be broadcast through sickbay for everyone to hear.

Gnai: ~ Thank you sir. No complaints, not really. The mission was ::pause, then heavily emphasized:: stressful, but there was no physical harm. ~

Adea: Response

Yes, they had been separated. Cmdr. Adea knew all about what had happened on Romulus, but it wasn't certain that he knew what had occurred afterwards. Perhaps in broad strokes, but not personally from Gnai at least.

Gnai: ~ After Romulus... I ::singular, denoting a part of a whole:: ended up imprisoned with the Captain, Commander Salkath, and Ensign Savel. ~

Adea: Response

Gnai: ~ I ::plural, a whole entity:: need space to rest properly, more than just this tank. Sleeping in it while in prison was not ideal. But since then, the quarters that have been provided for me ::singular, partial:: have been more than adequate. ~

((OOC: Hope some of the ideas I'm trying to bring to the table here about Galadoran linguistics make sense. I'm not much of a linguist myself, but I've been pondering how a species that has aspirations of being a hive-mind/has a hive mentality would interact with personal pronouns and the like. It's harder to convey the ideas that are baked into the pronouns of the language as I see it in most spoken languages in the Star Trek universe, I'd think, but in my mind, through telepathy the vibes could get across. Mostly what I've been contemplating is 'I' [and the related 'me', 'myself', etc] having both a singular denoting an individual Galadoran/'part of the whole' and a plural denoting the overall Galadoran species as a single entity - and maybe (but this could be far too confusing in text) an 'I' that denoted another Galadoran entirely [rather than 'he', 'she', 'they', more along the lines of 'it'/'another part of the whole', which is why Gnai uses it/its pronouns]. Then 'we' also gets singular and plural forms, with 'we' being partial [one or more Galadorans amongst non-Galadorans], partial-within-the-species [a subset of Galadorans, 'parts of the whole'], or whole [Galadorans as a species and others, perhaps in the context of agreements made with the Federation, for example]. I'm not sure how clear this is, or if this makes sense, but there's a reason that Gnai talks so weird!))
