K'Wara: Okay, spill, who had to grease palms for that to happen?
The question, posed in the typically good-natured and fun manner that never failed to make her smile. Tamil was the kind of person that made everything seem that little bit more positive and just better. The exact person she needed after the Boraxian mission.
By Jovenan’s look at her, it would seem she was in agreement but more than able to match Tamio’s cheeky charm.
Jovenan: Staff appointments are based on perceived skill, leadership abilities, suitability of character and the needs of the ship, Lieutenant. Not in the amount of grease.
Munro: :: nods :: But it does help. My payment is usually old and neat.
Ava nodded towards the bar.
K’Wara: So instead of Chief Vailani, the picture of professionalism and duty herself, you get me? Sounds like you got swindled somethin’ fierce there. Is that why we’re heading to Ferenginar? To chase down the charlatan responsible?
Jovenan: You could say so. But you shouldn’t.
Munro: :: mischievously :: Are you calling Fleet Captain MacKenzie a charlatan, Tamio?
Ava began to walk towards the bar, her arm raised indicating that the two officers should follow her.
K’Wara: Oh no, I’d never call her that. I value my mortal life too much for that. ::smiles and turns serious:: But thank you, really. I won't let any of you down.
Munro: We know you won’t.
K’Wara: Response
Jovenan: Have you yet had the opportunity to meet all of your colleagues in the Operations, and the other department heads?
As she listened to the conversation, they approached the bar. Ava flicked her hand politely to catch the attention of the barperson who promptly attended to them.
Munro: Whisky neat.
K’Wara: Response
Jovenan: And you, Commander? Was the mission enough for you to familiarise yourself with the crew?
Ava took several seconds to think of her answer, fully aware of the eyes and ears of the wider crew that may be listening to the conversation.
Munro: Enough to know that I can rely on them. They’ve really proven themselves to be a fine crew. Anything us newbies should know, Jovenan?
Jovenan/K’Wara: Response
The barperson returned with the ordered drinks, and placed them in front of them. Ava picked hers up and took a sip, letting the heat settle in her mouth before she swallowed.
Munro: :: playful :: No scandalous gossip?
Jovenan/K’Wara: Response
Ava’s eyes lit up brightly when she saw a Bolian yeoman approach, in his arms was a small yorkshire terrier.
Suzie.
Munro: I have someone important for you both to meet.
Suzie’s tail flapped excitedly as Ava gathered her into her arms.
Munro: Thanks, Daron. I hope you found it educational?
Yeoman Daron: I’ve never met a doog before. Thank you for letting me borrow Suzie for my study :: to Tamio and Jovenan :: I’m conducting research on the therapeutic benefits of domestic animals on starships. Thanks again, Commander.
As Daron left the trio behind, Ava presented Suzie proudly to her colleagues who brightened up at the new people.
