((Main Engineering, Deck 15 - USS Artemis-A))

As the two officers worked in tandem to repair Gnai’s suit (well, it mostly just floated there and kept the suit still as requested), it tried to pull Ens. Imril into conversation. Strangely enough, it had learned that the two of them were both interested in recreations of historical locations in the holodeck, and Gnai proposed perhaps a joint project. It had always intended to someday recreate the original Galador, and being able to work with someone on said project would make it far more likely to succeed.

The only problem was that they didn’t have too much in the way of original sources on the planet…

Gnai: Early generations of diasporic Galadorans were less than… sentimental for some reason about the first Galador.

Imril: I won't begin to guess at why. ::Looks to readout screen:: Electrolysis complete. Initiating drying cycle.

As the fluids flushed away, the holograms that surrounded Gnai’s suit started to blow air across the frame, drying it out as best as possible.

Gnai: Thank you again, Ensign.

Imril: Did the ancient Galadorans preserve a record of the planet’s rough coordinates? With those, it won't be too hard to get the ship’s computer to back-calculate an accurate star-map for the night sky at the time of the diaspora. I don't know how important that is to you, but it could add visual flair if nothing else.

Gnai lit up like a firework at this idea. That was perhaps, no, without a doubt, the most exciting part in its mind. Pinpointing the original location may not be an easy task, but figuring out how the stars had moved since then would be trivial, and incredibly fascinating. To get to see the stars as the ancient Galadoran had… Gnai could only dream.

Perhaps they could even spot the star that would eventually host Galador II from the planet.

Gnai: That is very important!! Perhaps the most important… ::trailing off to think slightly, before speaking again:: Stars are what this is particularly focused on, scientifically. It would be remiss to not try to be as accurate as possible.

Imril: Alright, let’s run through those motion tests again. See if there’s any joints still giving you trouble.

The rest of the holograms shut down, and Gnai started to slowly move the joints of the suit again. It raised and lowered the arms, twisting and turning them about as much as it could.

Gnai: Of course, how’s this?

Imril: Response

Gnai: Perfect, and then… ::following along with whatever instructions Imril gives:: how’s this?

As far as Gnai could tell, it was all ship-shape. Suit-shape.

Imril: Response

Gnai: The suit feels better than before, thank you again. ::beat:: About this hypothetical holoproject… do you have a moment to discuss it more?

Imril: Response

Gnai flashed with delight again, before retrieving a PADD that it had brought and left to the wayside. Now was the perfect time to perhaps dig a little into planning, or at least scheduling a proper planning session. There was so much to do, and it could hardly stop itself from being embarrassingly excited.

This was exactly the sort of personal project that it needed to occupy its free time on the ship, and the perfect way to get to know another member of the crew.
