(( Lieutenant JG Meyers’ Quarters - Compartment 62, Sector 04, Deck 3, USS Artemis-A ))
Yesfir exited her bathroom in a newly replicated uniform and grabbed the hot raktajino that was waiting in the replicator for her as an automatic routine in the replicator, an important part of her morning routine. She had once missed her morning raktajino due to an emergency waking her up three hours ahead of schedule, and it had been a very bad day for everyone involved in Sickbay.
Doctor Sad- Gila Sadar had even volunteered to go to a cross-department development meeting with the counselors to avoid being in Sickbay with her.
Ever since then, Yesfir had ensured that she never went to work without a healthy Klingon dose of caffeine. She picked up the PADD listing her itinerary for the day, taking a seat on the curved sofa in the middle of the sitting area, pulling her legs up and placing her favorite pillow in the empty space between her knees.
oO 06:30: Handover briefing with Lieutenant Glaz. 06:45: Independent research time. 07:25: Final disciplinary evaluation of - Oo
Yesfir sighed.
The duty, which had been foisted upon her just after the mission to Galaris IV had concluded, had not been an enjoyable one. Thankfully it hadn’t caused any major delays to her own projects - she ensured there was a modicum of buffer time for unanticipated additions to her workload - but there was still a certain element of frustration involved with it. Primarily that the issuer of the extra workload was no longer aboard the Artemis, so Yesfir couldn’t even complain about it.
(( Corridor - Deck 7, USS Artemis-A ))
Exiting the turbolift leading onto Deck 7, Yesfir passed by a couple of engineers who were busily adjusting the new plating for the ceiling. Yesfir looked at the frankly unsafe working environment as she passed it, knowing that it was only a matter of time before a child or an Ensign not paying attention would walk straight into the mess that had been left lying around on the corridor floor.
Most appointments made in Sickbay during shoreleave were the results of events such as those: people blindly walking ahead without checking the road before them.
Pretty standard Starfleet behaviour, if Yesfir had to be honest.
Bancroft: Ah, fair point. Tomorrow morning then? Same time? I could use a good push. ::a grin:: Nothing says “personal growth” like getting absolutely smoked by the new XO and then signing up for more, right ma’am?
Yesfir heard that voice as she walked towards Sickbay, still with 30 minutes to spare before the handover meeting with Lieutenant Glaz. It was a rarity that Yesfir was early for anything - she took pride in that fact - but today, something had possessed her to decide to take the ‘scenic’ route through Deck 7, maybe even check in on some of her peers’ research progress.
Only, it would seem that there was something more pressing to handle.
Munro: Response
Yesfir turned the corner just as the unfamiliar voice - ostensibly belonging to ‘the new XO’ if Bancroft’s words were to be believed - responded to the weathered Ensign, who, to Yesfir’s dismay, was resting on the floor while the First Officer was in his presence.
oO No wonder Doc- Gila Sadar assigned him disciplinary evaluations. What do they teach in the Academy these days? Oo
Yesfir conveniently disregarded the fact that she’d only been out of the Academy for 18 months herself. Much easier to judge others that way.
Bancroft: ::candidly:: You know, I used to feel incredible after a run – especially a hard one like that. Clear-headed, calm, even a little euphoric. Lately… I’m lucky if I just feel a little more like myself.
Munro: Response
Meyers: ::neutral expression:: Sounds like something you should get looked at, Ensign. Perhaps a medical checkup is in order? ::to Munro:: Good morning, Commander Munro. Lieutenant Junior Grade Yesfir Meyers. It’s good to meet you.
Bancroft/Munro: Response
Meyers: Hear what?
Bancroft/Munro: Response
Yesfir raised a thin black eyebrow in a suspicious manner, before shaking her head.
Meyers: Just a morning walk. Routine physical exercise, even something as simple as a walk, has significant health benefits: improved cardiovascular health, balancing blood sugar levels, increased sleep quality... Though I wouldn’t recommend overexherting oneself ::checks chronometer:: 28 minutes before the beginning of your shift.
Bancroft/Munro: Response
