((Sickbay, Deck 7, USS Artemis))

Having just revealed to Doctor Sadar that not only she was pregnant, but that the First Officer of the Artemis was the dad, Sam realized maybe that hadn’t been the best idea.

She was quickly regretting asking to bring Talos there. Was her want for not being there alone a good enough reason to drag him away from his work?

Sadar: C-C- ::deep breath:: I-I’m sorry, I must’ve - Commander Dakora? A-As in, Lieutenant Commander Talos Dakora? As in, o-o-our First Officer?

The shrillness in Doctor Sadar’s voice grew with each word she spoke, but Sam knew, there was no turning back now. The secret was out, but still hoping doctor/patient confidentiality still played a role despite the popularity of the father.

S. Richards: ::Chewing at her bottom lip and speaking softly:: Yeah… Lieutenant Commander Talos Dakora, your First Officer, is the father.

Sadar: … Okay.

With a tap of her combadge the doctor spoke.

Sadar: =/\= ::squeaky voice:: C-C-Commander? ::clears throat:: C-Commander Dakora, Doctor Sadar here. =/\=

Dakora: =/\= Response =/\=

Sadar: =/\= I’m sorry to disturb you, Sir, but I have- uhh… ::looks confused at Dr. Richards:: Your, uhh… ::shakes head:: I have Doctor Richards here with me. For a… A pre-natal check-up. She requests your presence. =/\=

oO Why does she keep calling me Doctor? I’m the furthest thing from a Doctor you can get.Oo Sam pondered for a moment, but figured it was either a cultural thing, or just a simple misunderstanding. Their meeting on the Borg Cube was a particularly horrifying one, so it wouldn’t have been a surprise for some of the formalities to have been missed.

Dakora: =/\= Response =/\=

There was already a sense of relief knowing Talos was going to be there. She just hoped he wouldn't be upset with her for revealing to one of his colleagues that she was carrying his children.

Sadar: O-Okay. ::turns back to Dr. Richards:: S-So, uhh… Dr. Rani wrote down that you’re approximately 10 weeks?

S. Richards: Probably closer to 11 weeks now.

Her hands ran down her stomach, feeling the very small bump that had started to form.

Sadar: W-Well… ::clears throat:: L-Let’s take a look at them, hm?

S. Richards: Thank you. I really appreciate you doing this for me. I’m sure this whole thing is probably awkward for you.

Thankfully Doctor Sadar had activated a privacy field around the biobed, giving Sam the comfort of not feeling like every passerby was staring at her.

She pulled her shirt up enough so that some kind of little devices could be attached to her stomach, as the information came up on the biobed’s screen Sam began to feel the anxiety setting in, genuinely hoping there was nothing wrong with either of the babies.

Sadar: I-It’s really, uhh… I-I wasn’t aware you knew Commander Dakora? Y-You didn’t seem familiar back when, uhh… Y-You came aboard after the Borg Cube.

S. Richards: Oh… We didn’t meet for the first time until a while after Frontier Day. It was only about 11 weeks ago that we met…

There was a moment of silence between the two as Sam waited for the doctor to realize what was being said. oO Awesome… She probably thinks I’m a floozy. Oo

Sadar: Response

S. Richards: I know… It’s not a typical situation ::letting out a breathy laugh:: We had one night together and–

She cut herself off, realizing she was beginning to overshare just before Talos joined them.

Dakora: Response

S. Richards: ::Looking up at him:: I’m sorry. I had some pain and I panicked, I just wanted to make sure they were okay. I shouldn’t have pulled you away from something likely more important than this…

Dakora: Response

S. Richards: ::Smiling before turning her attention back to the doctor.:: So… Are they okay? Do you know why I’m having this pain?

Sadar/Dakora: Response

Taking in the information carefully, Sam nodded slowly.

S. Richards: So this is all normal? Oh… I’m sorry. I feel a little silly now…

She felt her face get warm, keeping a Doctor away from more important work and pulling Talos from whatever he was doing just to ease her overly anxious self. It sure felt silly.

Sadar/Dakora: Response
