((Ava Munro Quarters - Deck 2 - USS Artemis-A))
Back on San Francisco on Earth it was midnight and early morning onboard the Artemis, and in some spots on Rylor. Harper smiled on the screen before her and lifted her mug. Ava followed suit, a ritual that they had indulged in since Harper was old enough to drink hot chocolate.
Munro: Variant 290. It's a little spicy.
H. Munro-Bellinger: =/\= Variant 37. =/\=
Munro: :: nods her approval :: A classic.
H. Munro-Bellinger: =/\= I was feeling nostalgic. =/\=
Munro: Nostalgic? You're far too young for nostalgia, Harp.
Harper yawned. Ava felt a tingle of guilt, she knew that Harper had her end of first year exams to study for.
Munro: You really don't need to continue with these calls? I appreciate it, I really do but I don't want you failing astro 101 because of me.
Harper took a sip from her mug.
H. Munro-Bellinger: I know I don't need too, I want too :: sombre smile :: Its weird because Dad goes missing all the time on his missions :: shrugs awkwardly :: but he's always been like that. Sometimes I think he just won't come back but nothing will change here.
Munro: Harper … Your father, he -
H. Munro-Bellinger: I don't say it to be mean. I just think that's the way it is and that's how he wants it. But with you :: beat :: I don't know if I could get over it if you didn't come back. When they told me you were missing I felt like I wouldn't be able to breath again.
Ava looked to her daughter, and smiled gently.
Munro: I did come back and I promise you I will always do everything I can to come back to you. All you have to do is keep breathing for me. And you did. You're stronger than you think, Harper.
H. Munro-Bellinger: I don't know about that :: awkward silence and then a small smile :: I didn't get on the track team. I even tried the legacy card but nepotism doesn't seem to work in the 25th century. Even Aunt Christie said I run like a Ferengi weighted down with latinum.
Munro: :: eye roll :: Nice to know she's encouraging cultural sensitivity in her old age. Anyway, track was my thing. You'll find your -
Jaran: =/\= Doctor Jaran to Commander Munro. Would you like to join me for breakfast? =/\=
H. Munro-Bellinger: =/\= I thought you didn't date doctors =/\=
Munro: :: laughs :: Enough, child. Definitely not a date. I still need to finalise my divorce before I can even contemplate dating :: waves at the screen and blows a kiss :: Talk soon.
Harper waved as the screen went blank. Ava tapped her combadge.
Munro: =/\= Count me in, doc. =/\=
Jaran: =/\= Wonderful! I filed my coordinates before leaving the ship. Come and get it while it's hot. =/\=
Munro: =/\= Be right there. =/\=
After a quick check of the coordinates and then deciding to throw a casual pale blue sweater over her black tank top. It was loose enough to hang off the shoulder.
(( Hermitage, Northern Plains, Rylor ))
Ava materialised from the transporter room onto the planet. All around her was tall turquoise grass, that gave off a pleasant scent. Rolling hills of varying colours off to either side of her and a copse of trees behind a small cabin.
She had no idea Doctor Jaran was so rustic yet the fact was no surprise to her. It only helped to confirm her impressions of them. She walked up to the porch, and hesitated slightly. On Naura IV she lived in a small community and it was considered impolite to knock. Privacy was an unusual concept in the community of Founders Bay. And she had been invited. Before she could make a final decision a voice called out from within the cabin.
Jaran: ::loudly from inside:: You can just come on in!
Ava smiled and opened the door, the hinges creaked as it swung open. The interior of the cabin was sparse and again she wasn't surprised at all.
Munro: I'm learning a lot about you this morning, Doctor Jaran. You like beautiful locations. And you don't like material things?
Jaran: Response
Munro: Thank you, doctor, I haven't had a chance to come planetside yet and this is a wonderful introduction to Rylor :: sniffs :: And that smells delicious, is that fresh pastry? :: Ava points outside :: It's so nice out, should we have breakfast outside?
Jaran: Response
Munro: After you.
