(( Interim CMO's Office, Deck 7- USS Artemis ))

It was good to be back aboard. There'd been very few instances in Addison MacKenzie's career when she'd been pulled away from her post - either involuntarily because of circumstance or ordered through Starfleet Command - but in every instance, she was always glad to be back to each of the ship's she'd called home. She'd never been called away from the Artemis before, so this particular homecoming was especially meaningful, and after she'd discovered the ship was in orbit of Ferenginar, she wasted no time in returning. With each return, she made it a point to tour the ship to see what, if anything, had slipped loose from her benevolently dictatorial hands.

Though she'd never served as the Artemis CMO, there was always a sense of ease and comfort whenever she found herself in a ship's sickbay, despite it no longer being her domain. When she entered the doors to the main sickbay, she could hear a pair of voices coming from the interim CMO's office, though neither of them were Kyle's. One, she recognized as Sam Richards, the pesky pregnant (but efficiently effective) civilian member of the science contingent, and another voice which was foreign to her.

Richards: Chaos. That is my endgame. Lieutenant Morgan needs some chaos in his life. I am simply here to provide that.

Jaran: Fine. You may as well finish your… work. I can see that you’re pretty invested. Just… remember us little people.

As MacKenzie approached the door, an intrigued and curious smile on her face, she was met by the surprised, wide-eyed pretend-to-be-innocent smile of Sam Richards... who was also very much not pregnant any more. Commander Munro neglected to mention that particular update.

Richards: Captain! ::Gesturing towards the door:: Look Doctor, it’s our fearless leader! Back from… Wherever she went.

Jaran: Response

MacKenzie: Fearless. Leader. ::wagging her finger:: You're a little far from the lab, aren't you Ms. Richards? What brings you to the Chief Medical Officer's office? With no Chief Medical Officer to be found?

Richards: Uh huh. That is a great question. We…I… Uhm.. We needed a private place to discuss something. This was the closest room. ::nodding as if to convince herself:: Very private… Personal matters.

Jaran: Response

MacKenzie's face immediately fell sternly-serious in mock-understanding, perfectly willing to play along with the bit.

MacKenzie: ::nodding in agreement:: Personal matters. Everything okay? Do you need a doctor? You know I was a doctor before I was a command officer...

Addison wondered if Sam's eyes were starting to dry out - it had been at least 45 seconds since she'd last blinked.

Richards: Well… Uhm… Personal matters that include me and uhm Talos. Things I’m sure you’d rather not hear about. But we are done with that discussion now. ::Beat:: Did anyone hear that?

MacKenzie's eyes lifted, as though her sense of sight might help further hone her hearing. Whatever Sam heard, Addison couldn't hear it.

...not that she'd expected to be able to hear a sound that never occurred in the first place.

MacKenzie: Hmm. No, I'm afraid I don't... Maybe we should conduct a hearing exam? Make sure you're not suffering from tinnitus?

Richards/Jaran: Response

MacKenzie held up her hands and vigorously shook her head.

MacKenzie: No, no, I insist.

She guided the pair back out into main Sickbay and pointed at one of the biobeds.

MacKenzie: You're here, we might as well check your hearing. ::gesturing to Jaran:: and I'm sure this doctor is just the right person to conduct the exam. ::to Sam:: Would you mind introducing me to our newest member of the medical staff?

Richards/Jaran: Response
