(( Ground Zero, Da'al ))
Yellir: All right. Then let’s get going. Not a moment to waste.
As the group moved— there was a deafening silence that followed on the wind. Of course, it was staggering to witness the destruction from once again an outside perspective, and being inside the city didn’t seem to de-sensitise the devastating blow. If anything, it seemed to reduce the scale from the inside. Outside, the damage was very real, almost tangible despite not even being able to touch it. But there was a difference to seeing the scale and living within the scale of destruction.
Jovenan: I’m reading Da’al signs to the north-east. ::pause:: Is that the command post or unwanted guests?
Jones: That's the medical tent. I wonder if they left wounded behind when the Da'allium kicked in.
Yellir: If they’re wounded they won’t be much of a threat. But we should keep our wits about us.
From what they’d observed, the effects of Da’allium were scarily similar to that of adrenaline. High amounts of adrenaline were capable of pushing the body beyond its normal limits. Ignoring pain, even if it meant tearing muscles or breaking bones in the process.
Jones: Wounded or not, they could still pose a threat if they've been swept up by the madness.
Jovenan: Responses
The stride they took went from cautious to sneaky. Hallia emphasized a lighter footing, careful not to leave any footprints or make any meaningful marks in the dirt at her feet. She mostly worried about anything that was watching them, she didn’t want to leave any form of visible trail. As they reached the medical tent, it was clear from tricorder readings that it was occupied— but there was no way of telling just who occupied it.
Gesturing to the tent, the components they needed where in there. A way to build a sufficient amplifier, but no matter what was to happen, there was a degree of uncertainty in how it would all come together.
Jones: What's the play here? I still haven't seen any movement from the medical area. Probably best to not push our luck?
Yellir: ::quietly:: We need to move quickly, alerting the occupants would be a very bad idea. Grab what we can, and get out. No unnecessary risks.
Jovenan: Response?
Quietly, she listed off the equipment to both officers, making sure to highlight what was required as well as leave significant room for others to chime in.
The medical tent was what they wanted to avoid, everything they needed was here, and Hallia made quiet haste to grab everything required. Her heart felt like it was right between her ears, with how loud it seemed to thud against her ribs Every small little scrape, knock or tap felt like glass shattering against a wall.
They reached a cylindrical device, and Hallia almost instantly got to work. Quietly snapping open her toolkit, she pulled out the things she needed. But there was a worry in her expression that some of the louder tools would blow the little cover they already had.
But removing the covers from the machine she got to work. The device shared what was in common with any usual Da’al communication array. The guts of it weren’t too different from what had been observed on the Hopper, but only there wasn’t an engine to work with, and they also weren’t making an impromptu explosive. Getting started didn’t take long, as most of what was required was preparing the array to be attached to the stasis device.
Jones: ::whispered:: You holding up ok?
Jovenan: response
Jones: Yeah. I'm really ready to be back on the ship. I've never wanted a shower so badly in my life.
Soldering wires left and right, splicing circuits to house the extra unit— it was simple work, the only worry was the compatibility. She gestured for some quick assistance, and motioned for the use of her toolkit.
Yellir: Pass me the stasis device. This’ll go faster if i have an extra hand.
Jovenan: responses
The time it would take to connect the device felt like it was taking hours.
As soon as she got her hands on it, Hallia dug her nails into the casing and pried off part of it. There was a satisfying pop that almost made her cringe due to the noise. It cut through the silence like a steaming hot knife. Very quietly she set down the unused piece and carefully pulled out several pieces of conduit and took careful note of the circuit board.
With the trusty flux coupler in hand, the connections were beginning to be made, she handed out another if any assistance were to be offered, but there was that notable popping sound as the metals sparked, melted and fused against one another. There was no flinching at the smoke that danced above the device, as she’d smelled it a thousand times before. Slowly she moved it into position, affixing it to the communication array.
Something made Hallia jump, however nearly dropping the device on its head.
Yalavvi: YOU'RE TRYING TO STEAL MY BLUEPRINTS!!
Jones: Incoming!
Yellir: Do your best to keep them away, I’m nearly done!
Jovenan: Responses
She didn’t enjoy working under pressure, and these circumstances seemed far direr than being in the hopper. Perhaps rushing the job she hastily made each connection, not even bothering to double-check the work she had rushed as quickly as possible
Jovenan/Jones: Response?
The sounds of combat roared from behind her, and Hallia dreaded to turn around. The final connection was made and there was a loud humming from the stasis device. With the twisting of several other circuits, Hallia looked back and yelled.
Yellir: Initiating the pulse!
And with the push of a single command on her tricorder, there was an almost deafeningly pitched noise that resounded through the area. It didn’t just stay inside the ear— but it echoed like it was bouncing off of each and every surface of the inside of her skull. Bouncing like a rock ratting inside an egg. Hallia nearly fell to her knees as the pulse continued, before the piercing noise slowly dissipated. A wave of nausea washed over her yet again, as the need to vomit rose from the very pit of her stomach.
Jovenan/Jones: Response?
