[PNPC] Lt. Cmdr. Glim Vel - Ruining My Day

Glim, cantankerous as he was, was actually in a good mood. He was on top of all his work, Operations was running smoothly for once, his PADDwork was completely finished, and he’d just replicated himself a small plate of blood truffle biscuits. One was hovering in the space just in front of his mouth when the chime to his door rang. He threw down the biscuit with annoyance.

Vel: Enter.

The doors swished open to reveal a young Ensign, in Operations yellow. Or possibly Security. Certainly, Glim didn’t recognise them. He stroked his tusk absent-mindedly as he waited for the Ensign to explain his presence and the ruination of a perfectly good biscuit moment. 

Bergmen: Ensign Bergmen, sir. Do you have a moment?

Glim frowned - who was Ensign Bergmen, Glim certainly wasn’t Ensign Bergmen. Then he saw the man’s pips - oh, he was introducing himself. The Tellarite left him standing and picked up a biscuit, stuffing it into his mouth and speaking through the crumbs.

Vel: For you, Ensign? I have one.

Bergmen seemed to take a deep breath before starting in on the reasons for his visit.

Bergmen: Sir, I was referred to you by your peer, Commander Adea, as a great point of recommendation for a mentor. Sir. I would greatly appreciate any advice you could offer to support my goal of becoming a proper officer. If your schedule is too occupied, I would also welcome recommendations for another suitable mentor you might suggest. Sir.

Glim made a mental note to personally thank Commander Adea for dropping him in it, before shovelling another biscuit into his mouth.

Vel: You’re an Ensign in Starfleet aboard a pretty highly respectable starship - what makes you think you’re not a “proper officer”?

Bergmen: Response

Vel: I see. So what you really mean is “how do I get a promotion, sir”?
