(( Cockpit of the USS Atlas - Galaris System ))

A strange and mysterious compound on Moric, the moon of Galaris VI, one of the uninhabited, and inhospitable, planets in the Galaris System.

Zoyara's green eyes fell over each of the individuals in the cockpit as she made her decision.

Vailani: Silveira, Sadar and Bergmen with me to the compound. Gnai, I need you to monitor our progress and beam us out of any trouble.

Silveira: Very well Lieutenant. Putting us in orbit and setting up auto pilot, so Lieutenant Gnai doesn’t need to worry about piloting… Can anyone get the transport coordinates?

She nodded, although she was certain Gnai being a Lieutenant JG they had the required basic piloting certifications and she knew had personally ensured that all Artemis personnel had those. She was, at heart, a Flight Ops girl ever since her stint on the Ronin's flight deck.

Gnai: Response

Silveira: I know we are on a peaceful and fact finding mission, but I recommend carrying a phaser. ::he smiled at Sada:: At least with those that feel comfortable with it.

Zoyara got to her feet, she had no intention of going over to that compound unarmed. She is the daughter of General Vailani Tovan and whilst he was a poor father, he was a fierce warrior and he taught her the value of a weapon.

She looked to Gila and saw her glower at Silveira, and she knew not to push the issue but she was not happy with her going over to the compound unarmed but she wouldn't force her to bear arms.

Vailani: :: pointedly :: I'd have preferred we were all armed :: to Gila :: But I won't make it an order. Just stay close to Lt Silveira.

Gnai: Response

Silveira: It’s the umbrella theory, it's best to have one and not need it, than need one and not have it.

Zoyara was beginning to warm up to Silveira. She followed him to the weapons locker and equipped herself with a phaser, as well as a Tricorder.

Once they were all prepared with the necessary equipment for their duty posts they went to the small transporter pad at the back of the shuttle. Moments later they shimmered…

(( Compound Corridor - Secret Lunar Compound, Moric ))

… And found themselves in a dark corridor. As always she found that the smell was the most immediate sensation to strike her. The Atlas was typically Starfleet: fresh and filtered. This compound was far from fresh and far from filtered, it smelt damp, and metallic. She consulted her Tricorder and the air had high levels of copper and carbon but within safety parameters for all lifeforms as she was sure Gila would have determined already.

Bergmen: The corridor seems clear.

Zoyara nodded. It did seem that Gnai had transported them to an empty location within the compound.

Sadar: Be careful. Engineer Griil said that there were biosensors embedded in the ceiling of the facility in Breetia. It’s not unlikely that the same is true here.

Vailani: That's good to know. Bergmen, can we fool those sensors - Lieutenant Gnai used the tricorders to project a different lifeform. Can we do the same with these biosensors? I'd much prefer we aren't discovered. I'll work on mapping the area.

She didn't have to give Silveira an order, he was Chief Tactical Officer and she wasn't going to tell him how to do his job. As much as she might want too.

Silveira/Gnai/Bergmen: Response

Zoyara watched her own Tricorder as Gila flipped open hers.

Sadar: I, uhh, I can’t find any lifesigns, b-but we should hurry. Just in case.

Vailani: I have the extrapolation of a map based on the hull construction. It may not be exactly accurate but we can improvise if need be. Bergmen, are we good for those biosensors?

Silveira/Bergmen/Gnai: Response

Happy with that, she began to move, taking her lead from the tactical chief at this point but nodded which direction to take. Not really sure if it was taking them to a meaningful location, imminent danger or to a toilet. They were simply following some unknown lifesign …

Sadar: Wait!

They all paused, Zoyara felt her breath catch. Afraid to breath in case it would alert anyone to them.

Vailani: :: barely a whisper :: Gila?

Silveira/Bergmen/Gnai: Response

Sadar: I-It’s gone, but... Th-There’s definitely something, or someone, up here with us.

Vailani: Then where did they go?

Zoyara consulted her extremely flawed map of this compound. There should be a wall where there wasn't. Then she looked upwards and there was a small lip of something that indicated there was a structure within the roof.

Silveira/Bergmen/Gnai/Sadar: Response

Vailani: The compound is modular.

Zoyara looked behind her and consulted her Tricorder.

Silveira/Bergmen/Gnai: Response

Vailani: Gila, did you learn about the ancient experiments on Earth at medical school? Rats in a maze? I think we might be the rats in this maze.

Just then the corridor they were on began to vibrate and move below them, she steadied her feet and removed her phaser from it's holster as they spun round. Walls moved upwards, sideways and around them until the corridor became a platform… they were on a stage and the audience was armed. Those weapons were pointed at them.

That wasn't the most surprising thing of all. It was Grunden and Kobyar soldiers, and one humanoid.

Silveira/BergmenGnai/Sadar: Response

Vailani: We're Starfleet officers, from the USS Artemis we have been sent here on behalf of the United Federation of Planets and the governments of the ruling states of Kydon.

A Kobyari stepped forward, the soldiers seemed to part way for this … well the only way she could describe him was HUGE … he was tall and as wide as he was broad. His Kobyar features had been badly scarred: five deep scars coarsed across his face.

Vef-Lai: We know who you are. It matters not to us. I am Vef-Lai. Grand Marshall :: laughs ::

It was a laugh that sent chills down her spine, it spoke of a menace she'd heard once before … on a ship far away from here. In this individual she heard the same spite and cruelty that let Clara Quinn bleed out without a second thought. It told her that they were in true danger here.

Vef-Lai: Federation. Starfleet :: that laugh again :: You don't know blood. You don't know power.

He raised a webbed fist into the air and the other Kobyar roared around him, their mouths opened and their throats bulged as a fierce warcry burst from them.

Before they even stopped, Vef-Lai pointed his clumped hand to them.

Vef-Lai: :Arrest them. You are prisoners of The Reformed Government of New Kydon :: chant :: War is Life.

The Kobyar troops marched towards them, they had all begun to chant 'War is Life's - they were brainwashed, rabid and maddened with ideology. A room full of weapons pointed to them. Not to mention teeth and claws.

Silveira/BergmenGnai/Sadar: Response
