(( Cockpit of the USS Acheron - Ebers System, Balancar Sector, Alpha Quadrant ))
It wasn't the first parallel universe she'd encountered. In fact this was tame in comparison to her experience on Bajor, in which she has only vague recollections of. It was a slide show of every possible eventuality of Bajoran culture. From xenophobic warriors to subservient slaves. Each manipulation of the timeline presented a whole new set of horrific conditions. They seemed like distant dreams now. But some memories, faces and truths lingered.
There was the ancient mountain lodge that overlooked B’hala. And an elderly woman, whose only job was to pass down a legacy through time. A legacy that was doomed to non-existence once the timeline was restored.
Yes, she was aware of the power of parallel universes and how they should never be trifled with.
Storm: Unfortunately, we still have the conundrum of who sent the worm to the station.
Vailani: :: distant :: Once we return to Luxasi we can pull the system apart.
Cole: And that’s just the tip of the iceberg of questions this whole experience has created.
K’Wara: If the upgraded sensors of the tactical upgrades intercepted Mr. Hinkly’s message mid-programming, that may explain a great deal.
Zoyara suspected that that was likely the most plausible explanation.
Cole: Is that a possibility? Also he did say Earth right? That’s kinda … weird isn’t it?
Storm: Yes, but I get the feeling that it’s not OUR Earth. Jovenan could probably explain it better, but infinite realities or something like that.
Zoyara knew better than to speculate about the origins of parallel universes, they were just as likely to change AND what's more they'd all likely be bound by classification gags once they returned to the ship. They could only be grateful that there were no temporal violations. No one wants to deal with those bureaucrats.
K’Wara: Nat, take us back around to Luxasi. Think the rift should be left alone for a little bit, give it time to settle down. ::to Vailani:: Lieutenant, patch us through to Researcher Zurah.
Cole: Setting course, Lieutenant.
Vailani: Communication connecting.
Storm: I’m glad to know that today wasn’t a good day to die.
As the voice of the scientist came through to the shuttle, a semblance of normalcy returned to them. Years of experience and training forced her to begin automatic checks, and system scans.
Zurah: =/\= It’s good to hear your voice, Lieutenant. Our scans are showing the rift back within normal parameters. =/\=
K’Wara: =/\= And it should hopefully stay that way, Zurah. ::beat:: Don’t suppose you’ve got the kettle on? We’ve got a shuttle that could really use some R&R before our trek back to the Artemis. =/\=
Zurah: =/\= Of course. ::smile:: I do believe it’s time we meet face-to-face. Luxasi out. =/\=
K’Wara: Damn fine job, all of you. If Luxasi’s got a bar, I’m buying.
There was a time that such a notion would have been met by a fierce rebuttal by Zoyara. Now, she knew better than to get in the way of a Starfleet officer and off duty drinks.
Cole: After this experience, I think we might need it.
Storm: We’ve been rather traumatized. You sure you have enough credits, Lieutenant?
If trauma was the metric being used for drink consumption then it was likely the station did not have the capacity to fulfill her needs.
Even still, a part of her was tempted to join them. If just to make sure they didn't get too drunk. And remind them of the reports to be filled.
Vailani: The reports will make for interesting reading.
Cole: At this point, my brain feels like it’s on its third cup of coffee trying to process this alternate universe, the station’s defenses deciding to play ‘surprise laser tag,’ and a rift that couldn’t decide if it wanted to inhale us or implode. They're going to think I made half of this up when I file the report on this.
Storm: Wait…what? I have to file a report?
Vailani: Not just one. This type of thing… you've got at least ten, Lieutenant.
