((OOC: apologies for any weird formatting. There were… issues with getting this sim out. Short version is that the text was copied from a photo of what I’d written. There may be errors as I edit on my phone.))
((USS Artemis-A, deck 1, Bridge))
Silveira: Half impulse, shields and weapons down until my order. Is there anything new on our away teams?
Bergmen: [swear] comms offline! Cycling error! Resetting now! (beat) No success!
Imril: Could the ghost be a Da'al shuttle that the virus isn't letting us see?
Jetripar eyed the console he had been given permissions for. Being around this much Starfleet must have infected him with their energy because he temporarily considered trying to figure out how to check in on the officers on the ground. But no, that was someone else's job. Someone who knew what they were doing. Instead, he addressed the question at hand.
Jetripar. It's possible it could be a shuttle. They certainly have at least one functional shuttle aboard, even assuming one was taken to the surface.
Bergmen: Virus overtook our comms. Communicating with the intercepted ship! (beat) Correction! Now contacted those Nascaik ships back on orbit! (beat) Oh my... They are losing their power over all their systems!
Imril: The virus must have transmitted itself to the ship in search of more data to consume. But why shut everything down on their ship and not ours?
Silveira: We are on Nascaik space, we shouldn't be here so for now it might consider us the lesser threat. And we are not as aggressive.
Jetripar: wryly:. I'm finding it hard to complain about this too much..
Bergmen: Sir, we need to disable the primary comms systems before it spreads! Destroy them if needed!
Imril: If we do that, the virus will still be able to spread from those ships. We need to end the virus here, and transmit the final counter-virus to the Nascaik fleet.
The older officer shook his head and stood up.
Silvera: Fight the virus Lieutenant Imril. Lieutenant Bergmen find another way. I know you got this. Secretary Jetripar stay put, I might need your assistant in a moment.
Jetripar looked at the bearded man with questioning eyes.
Jetripar: Staying put Sir.
Bergmen: response
Imril: The patch worked! The virus's targeted search algorithm now regards its own inter-process communication matrix as being a component of the Da'al ship's plasma accelerator EM field vectorization protocols! And is deleting them!
Silveira: At least some good news. Lieutenant Bergmen, tell me we have comms back. And start preparing a data package with all the data we have on the virus. We need to share that with the Nascaik.
Jetripar felt his heart flutter at the mention of the Nascaik. Somehow, he didn't think that any help beyond Havun's head on a pike would convince them to relax their opinion on his own murder.
Bergmen: Response
Imril: Estimated virus integrity down to ninety-three percent. Eighty-four. Seventy-nine. I've secured a route to the heuristic firewall. It's starting to crack...
Tactical: Commander the Nascaik ship is firing
Silveira: Get me comms and open a channel. I don't care if you have to shut down life support. We hold our breaths
Jetripar. ::quietly: They're going to kill us all.
Bergmen: Response
Silveira: All hands... Red alert. Helm full impulse intercept course on the Nascalk fire line.. Set the Artemis between them so we take the hits. Lieutenant Bergmen open a hailing frequency. Lieutenant Imril, whatever you have to do to speed things up do it, but get Engineering ready. Secretary Jetripar... Well, you're a politician so the closest thing I have to a diplomat. Give me some idea on how to deal with the Nascaik. that doesn't involve then firing on the Afalqi or delivering you to them.
o0 Oh I am just learning all manner of new things today. Oo
He pondered what to say to these people who were so unreasonable and aggressive. So utterly un-Da'al.
But were they? In a way, the Da'al were just as aggressive, when they decided they had a political enemy. How would he handle that?
Jetripar. Allow me to think on it, Commander.
Bergmen/Imril: Response
Silveira: Set us in position and power down shields and weapons.
Power down? Shields?
Jetripar. Those murderous barbarians will take me!
Bergmen/Imril: Response
Silvera: Send this message and the data regarding the virus to the Nascaik ships =/\= This is Commander Silveira from the USS Artemis, we are here to help. I assume you're also suffering the effects of the Virus, and are placing ourselves in your fire line to prevent any loss of life as we keep working on a solution. Please just give us a little more time. Thank you=/\=
Silveira took a deep breath and turned to face the bridge crew.
Silveira: If they are being affected maybe the Virus won't attack us. If they were in control and firing on the Afalqi hopefully they would stop, with us in their way.
Jetripar: I certainly hope you're right, Commander...
Bergmen/Imril: Response
There was silence on the bridge. There was silence from the comms. The ships sat in space for a moment.
Jetripar. Allow me to speak with them. This is, after all, an idealogical battle as much as anything. This is my realm.
Silvera/Bergmen/Imril: Response
Jetripar stood and faced the viewscreen. He took a deep breath and signalled to open a channel.
Jetripar. Good Nascaik people, I stand before you..
Before he could finish, a whine and a glow enveloped Jetripar as he was transported from the bridge. His eyes gaped as he faded from view.
Silveira/Bergmen/Imril: Response
((Nascaik Warship, Prisoner Cells))
The transporter beam released Jetripar, and he found himself standing in a tiny cell. A forcefield hummed inches from his face, and the glowering face of a Nascaik officer eyed him from the other side.
Nascaik Officer, into communication panel: =/\= Inform Eos that the Recompense is aboard. And inform the Artemis of the terms. =A=
Jetopar gaped and shivered. And was, for once, truly without any words.
((USS Artemis-A, deck 1, Bridge))
The hail was answered and the viewscreen flashed to life. An unfamiliar Nascaik faced them
Nascaik: =A= The Datal criminal has been taken, in accordance with Nascalk law. He wil be heid unti his crime may be covered by another. =/\=
The viewscreen went dark again as they ended the connection.
Silvera/Bergmen/Imril: Response
